The first ever Russian Poker Tour tournament took place in January in St. Petersburg. The tour continues this May 11-17, 2009 when action moves to the Russia’s capital of Moscow. The first ever Poker Stars Russian Poker Tour event in St. Petersburg attracted a total of 201 players, who each put up the $5,000 entry fee, and featured poker professionals and Team PokerStars Pros Alex Kravchenko, Vanessa Rousso, and 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Ivan Demidov. A local, Oleg Suntsov, who began the final table as the short stack, took down that tournament and $300,000 in first-place prize.
