2009 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP)

The 2009 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) on PokerStars is the worlds premier online poker tournament series. This year’s series guarantees a combined prize pool of $40,000,000 spread over 45 events, culminating with the $10,000,000 guaranteed No Limit Holdem Main Event. The Main Event has a $5,200 buy-in and will be featured on PokerStars.tv.
The 2008 WCOOP awarded $39,958,000 in prize money over 33 events. Team PokerStars Pro members Chris Moneymaker and Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier had stand-out performances while ckingusc became the Main Event champion and took home $1,265,432.
This year’s WCOOP is looking to be even better. PokerStars has launched WCOOP.com – a site that features up-to-the-minute qualification information, detailed statistics, in-depth tournament coverage, expert bloggers, video highlights and analysis, and a history of previous years action. PokerStars players can qualify for WCOOP events right now simply by going to the PokerStars lobby, clicking the Events and WCOOP tabs, or even by typing WCOOP into the Event Filter. Satellites for these events start from as little as $1 or 100 FPP and run around the clock. On top of this, players can also qualify for the WCOOP via the popular PokerStars Steps satellites.
