Many people think that since there are 18 red numbers and 18 red numbers that they have a 50% chance of winning that bet. This is an incorrect assumption.

Whatever the betting minimum is on the table is the minimum amount that you can bet on black. For example, if the minimum bet is $5, then $5 is the minimum amount you can bet on black. Also, there is generally a maximum bet and just like the minimum bet whatever the maximum bet is it means that is the max you bet on the table on one spin. For example, if the table maximum is $1,000 that is the max amount you can bet on the whole table. You can bet $1,000 on one bet, such as black, or spread it around the table with different bets, but you cannot surpass the $1,000.
