Introduction
The Titans own the recent AFC South rivalry with the Colts, carrying a five-game series winning streak into Sunday afternoon’s meeting in Indianapolis. Both these teams are 2-2 on the season, as is every team in that division, making these divisional bouts even more important.
NFL Betting Lines
The Week 5 NFL betting market opened Indianapolis as a one-point home favorite over Tennessee, with an over/under of right around 42. Both numbers were holding steady in the early betting action.
Titans-Colts NFL Betting Preview
Titans’ Bounce Back
Tennessee bounced back from a dismal loss to Cleveland a couple of weeks ago to beat Cincinnati last week 27-3. The Titans spotted the Bengals the first three points of the game, then outscored them from there 27-0 for the outright victory as 2.5-point home underdogs.
Indianapolis’ Recent Struggles
Indianapolis just had a two-game winning “streak” snapped last week, falling at home to the Rams in overtime 29-23. The Colts trailed 14-0 early, 20-0 at the half, and 23-0 midway through the third quarter. They then rallied for three touchdowns – with a pair of two-point conversions – to tie it up at 23-23. But Indianapolis then allowed Los Angeles to drive 75 yards to a touchdown on the first possession of OT.
Injury Concerns
On the injury front, the Colts have been operating without two starters along the offensive line, and both guys are questionable for this week. Also, while RB Taylor returned to the team this week, it’s uncertain as to whether he’ll play Sunday. The Colts are averaging 116 yards per game on the ground this season but QB Richardson is accounting for over a third of that, which concerns us a bit.
Titans-Colts Recent History
Tennessee owns a five-game winning streak on Indianapolis, going 5-0 ATS along the way. Last year the Titans swept the two games from the Colts by scores of 24-17 and 19-10.
NFL Betting Trends
The Colts are 0-7 SU, 1-6 ATS over their last seven home games.
Through Week 4 NFL home teams are just 29-34 SU, 26-33 ATS this season.
Totals Report
The unders are 3-1 in Titans games this season, which are averaging just 36 total points.
The overs are 3-1 in Colts games this season, which are averaging 49 points.
Through Week 4 the unders are 34-30 in the NFL this season.
Free NFL Betting Pick
We give Tennessee the edge with the running game and the better defense. And while Indianapolis QB Richardson put up some decent numbers last week, almost all of it came against a Rams prevent defense. Also, the Colts are banged-up along the O-line. Also, the Titans own a five-game winning streak against Indianapolis. We’re betting Tennessee Sunday.
