The Broncos are looking to bounce back this season, following the abortion that was last season, while the Commanders are going forward with their new young quarterback, heading into this Week 2 match-up Sunday afternoon at Mile High.
Denver opened this season with yet another close loss, while Washington opened with an ugly win over a bad team.
NFL Betting Lines
The Week 2 NFL betting market opened Denver at -3.5 over Washington, with an over/under of right around 40. Early betting action then dipped that total to 39.
Commanders Betting Preview
Washington opened its season with a 20-16 come-from-behind victory at home over Arizona Sunday. The Commanders, with 2nd-year man Sam Howell at QB, led 7-0 early but went cold and trailed 13-7 at the half. Washington still trailed 16-10 into the fourth quarter but took the lead on a Howell scoring scramble with 12 minutes left and added a field goal late. But they came up short against that spread.
The Commanders only managed 248 yards of total offense while holding the Cardinals, who were playing their first game under a new HC and with a QB they picked up last month, to 210 yards. Washington also turned the ball over three times, gave up six sacks, and were the lucky recipient of 122 yards worth of Arizona penalties.
The Commanders defense made the plays that won the game Sunday despite playing yet again without DE Chase Young. He’s listed as questionable for this week, too.
After winning eight games last season with Taylor Heinicke playing most of the quarterback, Washington is playing against a Season Team win over/under of 6.5 this season.
Broncos Betting Preview
Denver opened its season and the Coach Payton era by losing at home to the rival Raiders Sunday, 17-16. The Broncos gave Las Vegas a short field on the opening kick-off, failing to recover an onside kick, and fell behind 7-0 immediately. But Denver fought back to lead 13-10 at the half and 16-10 midway through the fourth quarter. But the Broncos then allowed the Raiders to drive 75 yards to a touchdown and could not respond.
In the end, it was a Broncos missed extra point that made the difference.
Denver held Las Vegas to 261 total yards of offense but only produced 260 yards itself. QB Russell Wilson looked better than he did last year but still only managed to throw for 177 yards on 34 attempts.
The Broncos lost nine games by one score last season, five by three points or less, and three in overtime. Now they’ve got one of those this season, too.
After winning just five games last season, but with Payton now at the helm, Denver is playing against a wins O/U of 8.5.
These teams last met two seasons ago, a 17-10 Broncos win. But that’s already a long time ago for both these teams.

Despite his struggles since the trade to Denver, we give Wilson the edge in the QB comparison. But from there, we give Washington the edge in the running game and a slight edge on defense. And we’ve always been fans of Coach Rivera’s style of play. Also, the Broncos just seem to have a bit of stink surrounding them; if something can go wrong, it will. We like the Redskins – err, the Commanders – plus the points. jBet your Week Two NFL predictions for FREE all month by scoring a massive 100% real cash bonus on your first deposit of $100 to $300 when you use bonus code PREDICTEM at BetUS Sportsbook!
