The Titans are trying to secure another playoff berth while the Jaguars are limping through the home stretch of a very lost season, heading into this AFC South rivalry bout Sunday afternoon in J’Ville. Tennessee is lined as a divisional road favorite for this one but Jacksonville’s been keeping most games close recently and covering spreads. How are we playing this game with our free NFL pick?
NFL Betting Odds
Week 14 NFL betting odds opened Tennessee at -9.5 over Jacksonville, with an over/under of right around 53. Early betting action then dropped the Titans two points, to -7.5.
Titans Betting Preview
Tennessee is looking for a bounce-back effort this week after getting kicked at home by Cleveland last week 41-35. Don’t be fooled; that game wasn’t anywhere near as close as that final score might indicate. The Titans allowed the Browns to hit the board on each of their first six possessions of the game and trailed 38-7 at the half. Tennessee pulled to within 38-21 in the third quarter but needed two touchdowns in the last minute and a half of the game to get that final margin back within one score.
The Titans produced 431 yards of total offense, but the vast majority of that came after falling down by 31 points. They also allowed 458 yards of Cleveland offense, lost time of possession by a 37:23 split, and turned the ball over three times, after turning it over just five times through their first 11 games of the season.
Two weeks ago, Tennessee looked really good in beating the Colts 45-26, and just before that, they won at Baltimore 30-24 in overtime. But just before that, they looked terrible in losing to Indianapolis 34-17. So this team seems a bit Jekyll-and-Hyde at the moment.
At 8-4 overall, the Titans are tied for first place in the AFC South with the Colts, and they own the tie-breaker on Indianapolis, thanks to a better division record. Another divisional victory this week would help immensely.

Jaguars Betting Preview
Meanwhile, Jacksonville just extended its losing skid to 11 in a row with a tough 27-24 overtime loss at Minnesota last week. The Jaguars, playing as 10-point dogs, drove the opening possession of the game 75 yards to a touchdown and led 9-6 at the half. Jacksonville then used a defensive score early in the third quarter to go up 16-6 but then allowed an 18-0 Vikings run to fall behind 24-16. The Jags tied the score with a touchdown and a two-point conversion with a minute to go but then lost the game on a Mike Glennon interception on the opening possession of OT and a subsequent Minnesota field goal.
Jacksonville did, however, hang on for the cover.
The Jags got out-gained by the Vikes, but only by a margin of 420-390. But they also lost the turnover battle 4-2, resulting in a -6 points differential, and got sacked for a safety.
Jacksonville has now been out-gained eight times over its last nine games.
The Jaguars may have lost 11 straight, but six of those came by one score or less, and four of their last five losses have come by a total of 11 points. They’re also 4-1 ATS their last five times out, keeping games close as underdogs.
But at 1-11 in the real world, Jacksonville is playing Sunday’s game for pride.
Titans-Jaguars Recent Rivalry

Free NFL Pick
Tennessee stumbled badly last week, but we expect a rebound effort this week. The Titans are out-rushing opponents by 34 yards per game this season, while Jacksonville is getting out-rushed by 34 yards per game. And according to our research, NFL teams that win the ground battles cover the spread about 65 percent of the time. Plus, the line moved in our favor. We’ll take Tennessee here, minus the points.
