The Seattle Seahawks may very well be the worst 7-1 team in the NFL. Monday nights debacle was a reminder of just how inconsistent the Seattle offense can be especially on the road. This week the Hawks welcome the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers to CenturyLink Field for what many would assume will be a typical Seattle home W behind their raucous 12th man crowd. However, if the Seahawks dont seriously find a rhythm and a balance to their offensive approach their season may be in jeopardy. Okay, maybe not against the struggling Bucs but even the Bucs are smart enough to steal ideas from the Rams notebook on how it pays off to put 8 in the box and force Russell Wilson to pass the ball. As for Tampa Bay, well, they just cant buy a win.

The Bucs have lost 8 games in a row if you go back to the last preseason contest against the Redskins 30-12. Tampa has a laundry list too long to go into but lets just say they need a lot help on both sides of the ball. Perhaps a bright spot for the Bucs this weekend might be a shift in their defensive schemeCB Darrelle Revis may abort his zone coverage and play more man coverage this weekend in order to throw a mix into the defense and hopefully slow down the Hawks and Russell Wilson. Given the awkward play-calling by Seattle on Monday night (two Russell Wilson runs in the red zone that were snuffed out easily and not using Marshawn Lynch when hes almost guaranteed 3-4 yards per carry) the Bucs might be able to hang in this game for a while especially if their defense can get early stops.

But realistically, the Seahawks should win by 14 points or more in my opinion. The bottom line for the Seattle Seahawks is simpleget better offensively and right quick! The season is at the midway point and the Hawks are still hot and cold on offense; they wont make it to the Super Bowl with a mediocre offense. In fact, the Seattle D was a bit uncharacteristic on Monday night as they allowed a backup QB to drive a so-so team down the field and get two shots at a game winning TD. Sure the Hawks held on by playing a cover zero man D but geez, really? Why was one of the best defenses in the NFL even in that position?

Seattles offense can be high-voltage and it might be that way this weekend if they can utilize their star power and play like they are capable of playing. There is no doubt who the better team is in this contest; in fact, Seattles next three opponents have a combined 3 wins between them which is pretty pathetic for the NFL but hey thats the way it is this season. The Seahawks are almost unbeatable at home and it will take a plethora of factors for them to lose this game. Seattle has won 9 of their last 10 games while Tampa has lost 9 of their last 10. Tampahaswon the last three meetings between these two teams but their last meeting was 12/26/2010 and they are totally different squads.

WilsonsPick to Cover the Point Spread: Seattle’s struggles at St. Louis last week were probably just temporary, as it is easy to overlook a much weaker opponent. While they will surely play better this week, I can’t help myself from thinking that 16.5 is three scores and I just can’t believe the Seahawks will be motivated to smash the lowly Bucs. Often times in these games, a team will get up early, try to kill the block by running the ball and the opponent sneaks in for a backdoor cover. I think this is the likely scenario this week.I’m betting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Luck to ya
