The Seattle Seahawks won their season opener versus the Miami Dolphins in last minute fashion. A game that most people fell asleep watching because it was so darn boringthe lack of offense on both sides forced fans at home to switch to the NFL RedZone until Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin decided it was time to get things done. Seattle has yet another realistic chance for a deep playoff run this season but they will need to continue to get better especially offensively. Week one is always a crap shoot, but the Hawks really looked out of sync at times. Miami is definitely working out their problems and coming in to Seattle as a 10.5 dog said it allbut look who covered the spread? The Dolphins played with a very tough team in Seattle and I think that only helps the Dolphins going forward. This week should be a laugher for the Seahawks when they fly to LA to get it on with the Rams. The last time the Los Angeles Rams scored was 21 years ago on Christmas Eve. The Rams scoreless drought continued in week one of their re-birth in LA with a loss at the San Francisco 49ers 28-0. How will Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher prepare his team for Seattle? Even more, how will Las Vegas sports books handle the line on this contest? The early line opened with Seattle at -3.5 but considering how the Rams played last week coupled with an almost guarantee the Hawks will not be as sluggish offensively, I can see this line movingkeep an eye on it.
Rams starting QB Case Keenum was 17 of 35 for 130 yards, 2 INTs, and was sacked twice in the loss at SF. LA starting RB Todd Gurley was held to just 47 yards rushing on 17 carries. Gurley will need to get going if the Rams want to utilize his talenthes a darn good back! The offensive line might need to have a coming to Jesus meeting and start stepping up to protect their QB and open some daylight for Gurley to work with. Good things happen when the boys in the trenches do work. However, it wont be easy with the Seattle D rollin into town.
Seattles D only allowed 10 points in week one and they will likely be even better after getting game one out of the way. The Hawks D pretty much won the game by keeping the score down and getting stops which allowed Russell Wilson to lead them to another W when he hooked up with WR Baldwin 3 times on the final drive. The other potential thorn for LA in this game is the return of Seattle TE Jimmy Graham, who returned from a season ending injury last year. Graham was only targeted once in the Miami game but it was a completion and you can bet the Hawks coaching staff is looking forward to getting him back into more of a role once hes up to speed. But the deciding factor in this game will be the play of Russell Wilson who ultimately dictates the offense. Wilson is well known for his ability to make plays and turn nothing into somethingthe Rams will have to put pressure on him without letting him sneak out of the pocket and burn them on the run. Good luck D-Coordinator, on scheming a plan to somewhat contain Wilson.
Defensively, Seattle has the advantage like they have the last five years. The Legion of Boom may not be as infamous as they were in the past but they still bring it. Seattle had 5 sacks in the Miami game and was constantly putting pressure on the QB. Lets face it, Seattles D is solid and the Rams will be the recipients of their wrath come Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.
Head to head, Seattle leads in every category except for pass attempts and ATS (I really dont think the Rams can cover in this one). Im taking the Seahawks all the way in this game. Seattle puts on a show in Hollywood! The Rams will be looking for answers again after this beat down.
Russell Wilson is nursing a sprained ankle but he should be set to go by the weekend. I like the Seahawks to roll in this game 38-13. Luck to ya.
WILSONs Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Seattle covers the spread.
