Seahawks Betting Preview

Seattle heads into Sunday coming off back-to-back victories, most recently a 16-6 decision over a hot Arizona team last Sunday. The Seahawks, as 1-point home dogs, led the rival Cardinals 7-3 in the third quarter, then got a pick-6 to take control on their way toward beating Arizona for the sixth straight time.

Seattle got out-gained by the Cardinals 298-285 but held Arizona to 3/13 on 3rd and 4th downs.

Two weeks ago, the Seahawks scored with 12 seconds left to win at San Francisco 20-17.

Seattle started 3-0 this season, then lost five of its next six games. But wins the last two weeks got the Seahawks to 6-5 and tied with the Cardinals for first place in the NFC West. And the Seahawks, for the moment, own the tie-breaker on Arizona.

Seattle also only needs two wins over its last six games to play over its season betting total of 7.5.

Jets Betting Preview

Meanwhile New York dropped to 1-7 both SU and ATS over its last eight games after falling at home to Indianapolis two weeks ago 28-27. The Jets then had last weekend off.

New York, favored at -4 over the Colts, fell down 13-0 out of the gate. The Jets later rallied to lead 24-16 in the fourth quarter but allowed Indy to drive 70 yards on consecutive possessions to touchdowns to finish off yet another disappointing defeat.

New York got out-gained by Indianapolis 332-253. So the Jets have been out-gained by four of their last five opponents.

Two games ago, New York got embarrassed out at Arizona 31-6.

The Jets are also now 1-5 in both SU and ATS since canning their head coach back in October.

At 3-8 overall, New York trails 7-5 Denver by 3.5 games in the battle for the last AFC wild-card spot. The Jets are also doomed to play under their season wins total of 9.5.

These teams met most recently two seasons ago, a 23-6 Seattle home victory. Geno Smith, the former Jet, quarterbacked the Seahawks that day against Mike White for New York.

On the injury front, both these teams are a little banged up on offense, so bettors might want to consult later reports before getting down on this game.

Free NFL Betting Pick

Seattle owns the edge on offense, but New York owns the better defense. And we like betting the team with the better defense in match-ups like this. Also, the Seahawks caught a huge break to win last week, while the Jets can’t buy a break. But perhaps New York is due to connect on the “reversal of fortunes” theory. Also, the Jets own the better performance, yardage-wise, against common opponents this season. We’re not big on New York’s chances of climbing back into the AFC playoff picture, but we do like their chances Sunday.
