Two teams that just awarded their new head coaches victories in their first games meet when the Patriots host the Seahawks Sunday afternoon in Foxboro.
Seattle defeated Denver last week in its first game under new head coach Mike Macdonald. Meanwhile, New England beat the Bengals in its first game under new head coach Jerod Mayo.
This means one of those guys is going to start their head coaching career 2-0 on Sunday.
This game involves a West Coast favorite at an East Coast home dog. Also, there’s a hook involved on that spread.
NFL Betting Line
The Week 2 NFL betting market opened Seattle at -3 over New England, with an O/U of around 41. Early betting action slid the Seahawks to -3.5, dropping the total to 37.5.

SeahawksBetting Preview
Seattle is 1-0 on the season after defeating Denver last Sunday 26-20. The Seahawks trailed the Broncos 13-9 after a sloppy first half but scored the first 17 points out of the locker room and held on from there.
However, a late Denver touchdown cost Seattle the cover at -6.5.
The Seahawks out-gained the Broncos 304-231 and out-rushed Denver 146-99.
Seattle finished 9-8 last season but missed the playoffs. Then they parted ways with HC Pete Carroll, replacing him with Macdonald, who most recently served as DC for the Ravens the last couple seasons.
The Seahawks are playing against a wins O/U of 7.5 this season.
Patriots Betting Preview
Meanwhile, New England is also 1-0 on the season after winning at Cincinnati last Sunday 16-10. The +7.5-point dog Patriots scored the first 13 points of the game, kept the Bengals off the board until late in the third quarter and held on from there.
New England also cashed in at +340 on the NFL money line.
With a healthy Rhamondre Stevenson back in action, the Patriots out-rushed Cincinnati 170-70 and won the turnover battle 2-0.
Following two decades of great success, New England fell to 4-13 last season and replaced HC Belichick with former linebacker Mayo. The Patriots were basically inept on offense last season, but the defense was and remains solid. A good defense and a running game can help a team overcome the learning curve that comes with new coaching regimes.
New England is playing against a wins O/U of 4.5, and it’s already 20 percent of the way toward the over.
On the injury front, Seattle RB Kenneth Walker, who ran for 103 yards and a score last week, tweaked an abdominal and, as of early this week, was listed as questionable for Sunday.
Seahawks-Patriots Recent History
These teams, who met for a classic Super Bowl nine seasons ago, met most recently four seasons ago, a 35-30 Seattle victory. But that was a coach and quarterback ago for both teams.

Free NFL Betting Pick
Seattle took advantage of an iffy Denver defense and a Broncos rookie QB last week; they won’t have that luxury this week. We bet New England last week – plus the points, not on the money line, sadly – because we thought they could run the ball a bit, the defense was very good, and Brissett could manage a game. By gosh, that’s just what happened. And we like betting on that style of football. We’re betting on the Patriots again this week, and this time, we’ll play them on the money line to win.
