Sunday, October 20 at 1:00pm the San Diego Chargers will
travel to the warm, sunny, southeast to take on the winless Jacksonville
Jaguars
. The Chargers come in at 3-3 overall and are sitting in
2nd place in the AFC West but 3 games behind both Denver and Kansas City
in the win column. Every game is crucial for the Chargers at this point,
because its apparent that their only shot at the post season will be to
sneak into a wild-card spot. Jacksonville is just playing for pure pride
right now, or maybe not, maybe they are playing for Teddy Bridgewater as
their number one overall pick in this years draftwho knows. Regardless,
they are 0-6 and havent looked good at all. San Diego is a road favorite
at 7.5 points. The over/under is set at 45. Lets take a moment to breakdown
this AFC matchup!

San Diego is coming off a mini upset this past Monday when they beat the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. The short week and long travel could play a role in this matchup. San Diego comes into this game with the 5th best passing attack in all of the league which comes as a surprise to many. With wins over Philly, Dallas, and Indianapolis, the Chargers are trying to establish themselves as a legit contender in the AFC. The 3-3 record doesnt show that, but lets not forget that just last season, the Redskins started 3-6 and went on to make the NFC playoffs. At 3-3 and games against Jacksonville and Washington on the horizon, they can get 2 games over .500 before their showdown with Denver. Philip Rivers has matured to a degree and has put this team on his back. Between his play, and a decent defense, the Chargers can hang with a lot of the NFLs big boys. The key to covering the 7.5 and getting the win on the road will have to be just ball control. The Jaguars are going to make mistakes, they will have some mental lapses, and I firmly believe if San Diego just plays a clean game, it will work out in their favor.

The Jags are the worst team in the NFL (with the exception of the NY Giants, yea I said it). Jacksonville just this past week covered their first spread at Denver but lets be honest, that spread was junk anyway. 28 points for an NFL matchup is ridiculous. Jacksonville may be winless, but I dont think they are the worst team in the league by any means. Do they have some big issues? Yes, but I think there are teams out there, even teams that have a win or two that are playing far much worse football. The Jags have already had to face the Chiefs, Broncos, Colts, and Seahawks. I can name you about 15 other teams in the league that would lose all four of those games as well. In order to stay in this game, Jacksonville is going to need their QB to step up. Everyone points to the Jaguars having the worst rushing offense in the league but with a QB that cannot get to his wide outs, defenses are not having to worry about the pass, thus leading them to stack the box and stuff the run. If newly named starter, Chad Henne, gets the ball down field and makes the Chargers DBs and LBs respect the pass, this would make more room for Jones-Drew to get some running lanes. That is the key here. Get the passing game going. This game is not as one sided as people think it may be. Everything except pure talent is playing into the favor of Jacksonville. Remember, in the NFL, anything can happen.

Bobs Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Right now 69% of the action is on the visiting Chargers and the 7.5 they are giving up. I dont like that bet at all. They are on a short weeks rest, coming off a big win, and travelling across the country. I feel in the NFL this is a recipe for a letdown. Guys, the Jacksonville Jaguars are about to get their first win of the season. The Jags are going to win a very sloppy 19-17 game this Sunday. I see both defenses stepping up and I also believe neither offense will be able to hit their strides. Jacksonville in the upset!! Mark it down!!! Pick: Jacksonville +7.5
