Monday NFL Notes: Bills RB Fred Jackson injured his right knee and is likely to miss a month +. CJ Spiller has been named the starter. The Bills also lost WR David Nelson for the season with a torn ACL. Rams C Scott Wells has a fractured foot and is out indefinitely. This is bad news for the Rams as they’ll be using a career backup (Rob Turner) at Center. Browns DB Joe Haden has been suspended for 4 games by the NFL for the use of performance enhancing substances. Redskins RB Pierre Garcon suffered an undisclosed foot injury but it’s said to not be serious. Titans WR Kenny Britt (knee) will supposedly play in approx. a third of the team’s snaps in week 2. Jake Locker suffered a shoulder injury during week 1 but is likely probaby for his week 2 start. Jags RB Rashard Jennings left in the 2nd quarter of the team’s opener with an achilles issue. His status is unknown at this point. Broncos DL Ty Warrne re-tore his right triceps and will miss the rest of the season. Falcons DB Brent Grimes tore his achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the season. Cardinals QB John Skelton sprained his ankle vs. Seattle and will miss 1-2 weeks. Kevin Kolb will now start for Arizona. Vikings RB Adrian Peterson surprised everybody by toting the football 17 times. He’s said to be feeling fine the day after. Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin sustained a right hip flexor injury and is questionable but likely doubtfuul for week.

Football Betting Advice: It’s a Marathon, not a Sprint – 8/25

Don’t Bet on it! 5Dimes Sportsbook has released odds of the Packers or Patriots going undefeated. Both teams are currently listed at 35-1. The real chance of this happening is probably less than 1%. Keep in mind that only one NFL team has ever gone undefeated. – 8/15

Friday NFL News: Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is looking like he’ll be ready for week 1. While the Bucs haven’t officially named a starter, it appears to be LeGarrette Blount. Doug Martin looks like he’ll be getting the call on 3rd down. This situation could of course change at any time though as Blount is inconsistent. Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi left Friday’s game with a head injury. This guy has a history of concussions. This doesn’t sound good. The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Cedric Benson. This is a clear indication that management is not happy with James Starks. Phils QB David Garrard had his knee scoped and will miss up to a month of action. Packers LB Desmond Bishop is OUT indefinitely with a severe hamstring injury. Word out of Cowboys training camp is that DeMarco Murray look great. Skins RB Evan Royster is looking like he’ll be the starter over Roy Helu who has failed to show that he can break tackles. – 8/10

Thursday NFL Notes: Chargers RB Ryan Mathews will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken clavicle. Mathews is such a huge talent but his to stay healthy is questionable at best. Ronnie Brown moves up the depth chart. Ravens WR Torrey Smith sprained his ankle in Thursday’s preseason opener. Ravens TE Ed Dickson banged up his shoulder as well. Both could miss multiple weeks of the preseason. Eagles QB Michael Vick suffered a thumb contusion which is not believed to be serious. Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed 4-7 passes with 1 INT in Denver’s romp of Da Bears. Falcons WR Julio Jones looked like a Pro-Bowl player hauling in 6 passes for 109 yards and a TD. This guy should put up some unreal numbers this season if he can stay healthy. RGIII completed 4 of 6 for 70 yards and a TD. Expect Seahawks WR Terrell Owns to kick some butt this year as he received no signing bonus and his 925k salary is not guaranteed. Rumblings out of Vikings camp are that QB Christian Ponder is looking real good. Browns RB Montario Hardesty will start Friday at Detroit. The Brownies are in trouble if Richardson ends up being out for any regular season games. There’s a QB controversy brewing in Tennessee. We expect Locker to win out though as Hasselbeck throws more INT’s than interceptions. – 8/9

Wednesday NFL Notes: Browns rookie RB Trent Richardson is having his knee scoped. He does however plan to return prior to the start of the regular season. Multiple sources have said Browns CB Joe Haden is in dange of being suspended for a failed drug test (Adderall, used to treat A.D.D.) The Jags aren’t budging on MJD’s holdout. Skins RB Evan Royster is said to have the inside track on starting. – 8/8

Monday NFL Notes: Packers WR Greg Jennings will miss the team’s first preseason game as he’s recovering from a concussion. The Seattle Seahawks have signed WR Terrell Owens to a one year deal. The Dallas Cowboys have been quoted as saying they’d like to include RB DeMarco Murray more in the passing game. The Browns have named QB Brandon Weeden as their starter. Keep in mind that Weeden isn’t your typical rookie, he’s 28 years old. The Jaguars agreed to terms with rookie WR Justin Blackmon on a 4 year deal. Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is doubtful for Friday’s preseason opener. Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Flynn is the likely candidate to win the starting job over Tarvaris Jackson and rookie Russell Wilson. – 8/6

Sunday NFL News: Broncos RB Mario Fannin tore his Achilles’ tendon and will miss the year, his second straight due to injury. The Seattle Seahawks have waived WR Antonio Bryant. WR Greg Childs has torn patellar tendons in both knees. He’ll miss the year and the injury could be careeer threatening. Lions holdout Chris Avril signed a one year deal. – 8/5

Inducted: Congrats to the six new members of the NFL HOF: Willie Roaf, Curtis Martin, Chris Doleman, Dermontti Dawson, Cortez Kennedy and Jack Butler. – 8/5

Saturday NFL News: Patriots OL Robert Gallery has retired. The Denver Broncos have signed Safety Jim Leonhard. Leonhard is coming off patellar tendon. Titans Center C Eugene Amano tore his biceps and is out for the year. Rams rookie RB Isaiah Pead is drawing comparisons to scatback Darren Sproles, Jamaal Charles and LeSean McCoy. Reports out of Tennessee are that RB Chris Johnson looks filthy. Rumblings out of Bears camp is that the coaching staff likes the way RB Michael Bush “moves the pile”. Bills WR Stevie Johnson sat out practice with a sore groin. The reason we mention this is because he was hampered with a groin injury all of last year. A real bummer as a healthy Johnson could put up some enormous numbers. News out of Dolphins camp has QB David Garrard getting most of the 1st string snaps. This is hard to believe considering what Matt Moore did last year. Garrard has been pretty ineffective as an NFL QB but maybe a change of scenery has given him a rebirth? Sleeper alert! Look for Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph to do well this year. The guy has giants hands and is making a big splash in Vikings camp. – 8/4
