Sunday in Indianapolis, the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town to take on the Indianapolis Colts. Pittsburgh comes in at 6-2 on the 2017 season and in first place of the AFC North Division. The Colts are 3-6 and are last in the AFC South. Ten years ago this would have been a Prime Time showdown…now it is just a game that the Steelers know they should win.
The Steelers come into this game as ten point road favorites over the Colts. I have never seen so many big spreads in one week of the NFL but there are a lot of double digit dogs here in week ten. With that said, the betting public likes Pittsburgh to get this cover. 63% of the action is on the Steelers to dominate the Colts and as for the over under, 58% thinks this game stays under the 44 total points.
The Colts are having some major issues in 2017. Besides the fact that their franchise quarterback, Andrew Luck, has yet to take a snap, they just have not played well…in any area. Not only have they had problems on the field, but now, outspoken owner, Jim Irsay, is calling out Andrew Luck saying that his injury is “inside his head” and pretty much questioning the toughness and manhood of his potential star QB. However, there is a game to be played this weekend and we need to see what it will take for the Colts to somehow get the job done.
Pittsburgh is one of the NFL’s better teams and this will not be an easy task for a pretty bad Colts team. What can the Colts do this week? Well for starters, play some defense. Indy ranks dead last in the NFL in points allowed (28.9 per game). Combine that with an offense that is only scoring 18 a game and what do you have…thats right, a top five draft pick come April. Seriously though, the Colts need to find a way to score some points n this Steelers defense. Pittsburgh is only allowing 16.4 points a game and it is not going to be easy for this Indianapolis team to score with a backup QB at the helm. This week the defense needs to help for a change. Force some turnovers, pressure Big Ben, and get the offense some good field position. If they cannot do this, they have no chance and I mean it…NO CHANCE.
The Steelers are 6-2 but the eye test tells me they are not THAT good. No, I am not hating on the Steelers but it is just a feeling I get that they could potentially lose at any time. I am not at all saying this is the week that happens but in order to confirm that, the Steelers need to play a complete game. We know the defense will come with their ears pinned back like they always do but it is time the offense went off. The Steelers only rank 20th in the NFL in scoring offense. This is a game that with the talent Pittsburgh has, they should be able to put up 28-34…easy. If they do this, not only will they win the game, but they win it and cover without question.
So what is my prediction? I think the Steelers come in and kill the Colts. I think this Colts organization is headed in the wrong direction and I would not be shocked in Andrew Luck were in a different uniform in the next year or so…thats how bad I think it is about to get. I like the Steelers to come in and win this game something like 27-13 over the Colts.
