Last Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers picked up their 2nd win in the last three games with a 24-17 win over the struggling Indianapolis Colts. Despite a handful of injuries, QB Kenny Pickett played well, hitting 20 of 28 passing for 174 yards. Perhaps more importantly, the Steelers picked up 172 yards on the ground in a committee-style effort which proved to provide enough offense to hold off the Colts. At 4-7 SU, the Steelers are simply trying to gain some valuable experience and confidence for their young team. On Sunday, the Steelers will attempt to build off some budding momentum when they go on the road to face the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Last week, the Falcons continued their trend of poor performances on the road in a 19-13 loss to the Commanders. Despite Atlanta’s identity for providing a heavy ground attack, it was the Washington ground attack that stole the show. In fact, the Commanders’ offense rumbled for 176 yards on the ground marking one of the few times this season an opponent rushed for more yards than the Atlanta offense. While Atlanta also rushed for 167 yards on 29 attempts, QB Marcus Mariota struggled to hit throws down the field and gave up a costly turnover in the defeat. However, Atlanta will get the opportunity to bounce back this week when they return home to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where they are 4-2 SU on the season.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Analysis
One of the items worth monitoring this week is the health of the Pittsburgh backfield. In last week’s victory over the Colts, starting running back, Najee Harris went down in the 2nd half with what was described as an abdominal injury. On Tuesday, the Steelers released news that Harris could be dealing with a hernia that could potentially require surgery. With backup running back Jaylen Warren already dealing with a hamstring injury, the Steelers will likely lean on deeper backup options in Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland. More importantly, I believe that will force this Steelers offense to put more volume on the arm of QB Kenny Pickett. In games this season with high passing volume, Pickett has struggled, especially with turnovers. Despite the growing emergence of WR George Pickens, I believe this is still a difficult situation for Pickett if the offense cannot have some success on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Falcons’ offense knows exactly how they will attack with their ground game that features Mariota with tailbacks Cordarrelle Patterson and Tyler Allgeier. Averaging more than 160 yards per game on the ground, the Falcons will get the chance to attack a Steelers defense that has surprisingly relinquished 130 yards per game on the ground. Needless to say, the Falcons definitely have opportunities to lean on the rushing attack as long as the game script remains positive. If the game script goes the other way, QB Marcus Mariota is in desperate need of resources in the passing game, and the struggling Atlanta passing attack could be in serious trouble if the Falcons are forced into more passing situations than desired.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Prediction
While both of these teams are pretty similar in terms of overall talent, I believe this match-up actually favors the Falcons with the more consistent ground attack. Atlanta also does a good job of protecting the football, which could be a critical component in this match-up. As a result, I’m rolling with the Falcons to get the job done!
