AFC North rivals meet for the first time this season when the Joe Burrow-less Bengals host the offensively-challenged Steelers on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati.
The Bengals are now battling just to stay alive in the AFC playoff picture with a backup quarterback, while Pittsburgh just canned its offensive coordinator. So, points might be hard to come by Sunday.
NFL Betting Odds
The Week 12 NFL betting market opened Cincinnati as a one-point favorite for Sunday, with an over/under of around 34.5. Early betting action then flipped the Bengals into home dogs at +1.5.
Steelers-Bengals Betting Preview
Pittsburgh was on a 4-1 run but lost last Sunday at Cleveland 13-10. The Steelers, playing against a Browns team without Deshaun Watson, trailed 10-0 at the half, then tied the game at 10-10 midway through the fourth quarter. But that Pittsburgh offense couldn’t produce anything else, and the game was lost on a Cleveland field goal in the final seconds.
The Steelers only managed 249 yards of total offense Sunday, and 74 came on one play. Which means they produced 175 yards on their other 56 plays. However, it should be pointed out Cleveland’s defense is pretty good.
Pittsburgh still has yet to out-gain an opponent this season.
Two weeks ago, the Steelers ran the ball for 205 yards and beat Green Bay 23-19. Three weeks ago, they ran for 166 yards and beat Tennessee 20-16.
But thanks to recent anemic production from the passing game, Pittsburgh fired its OC earlier this week.
At 6-4 overall, the Steelers occupy the No. 7 spot in the AFC playoff standings.

Cincinnati gave up 405 yards of Baltimore’s offense, including 157 on the ground.
So the Bengals have now been out-gained by four of their last five opponents.
With Burrow out, former Washington Husky Jake Browning will make his first career NFL start Sunday for Cincinnati.
Common Opponents
These two teams have played five common opponents this season: the Browns, Ravens, Rams, Titans, and 49ers. Pittsburgh played those foes to 4-2 both SU and ATS and -71 yards per game, Cincinnati to 2-4 SU, 1-4-1 ATS, and -118 YPG.
Steelers-Bengals Recent History
Cincinnati is 4-1 SU and ATS over the last five meetings with Pittsburgh. However, three of those Bengals victories were engineered by Burrow.
NFL Betting Trends
This season, home dogs are 24-38 SU 29-29 ATS in the NFL.
Totals Report
The Unders are 8-2 in Steelers games this season, which are averaging 36 total points.
The totals are split 5-5-1 in Bengals games, which are averaging 43 points.
This season, the Under is 98-66 (60 percent) in the NFL.

Pittsburgh’s been running the ball better recently, while Cincinnati, with Burrow, sometimes forgot even to try to run. The Steelers are also playing the better defense as of late and they own the better performance against common opponents. We like Coach Tomlin’s troops to take this game on Sunday.
