The Philadelphia Eagles will have the luxury of hosting the Green Bay Packers this Sunday in an NFC Wildcard match-up at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles secured the #2 seed in the NFC this season thanks to a stellar 14-3 SU record and NFC East title. The Philadelphia offense has been among the best in the NFL in recent years, with quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver AJ Brown, and others. However, the addition of RB Saquon Barkley has been one of the biggest storylines in the league this season. Barkley ended the season just shy of the NFL’s all-time rushing record with 2,005 yards and has propelled the Eagles offense into a juggernaut that is now just as dangerous on the ground as compared to the passing attack.

While the Eagles offense appears poised for a deep playoff run, the Philadelphia defense will face a steep challenge in Sunday’s home game against the Green Bay Packers. The visiting Packers have a very effective and balanced offense behind QB Jordan Love and RB Josh Jacobs. In fact, the Packers have collectively produced 27.1 points per game, which is one of the top-scoring attacks in the league. Additionally, Head Coach Matt LaFleur is considered one of the best play callers in the NFL, and they will have the opportunity to attack an Eagles defense that has been vulnerable throughout the season. As a result, the Packers are just a mere 4.5-point underdogs for their opening road trip to Philadelphia in a match-up that appears likely to produce an NFC Championship contender at the outcome!

Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Analysis

It is worth mentioning that both the Eagles and Packers rested some of their starters last week in the final game of the regular season. Green Bay trotted out their starters in hopes of improving their seeding, but QB Jordan Love was removed from the game after getting hit on the elbow. Love’s injury is not considered serious, and he will be under center for Sunday’s NFC Wildcard match-up. However, Green Bay will be without WR Christian Watson, who was lost for the season with a knee injury in last week’s finale to the Bears. While injuries to Watson are not exactly new, his loss does impact the deep ball threat against the Philadelphia defense.

Strategically, I expect the Packers to put heavy focus towards establishing the ground game with Josh Jacobs because QB Jordan Love will draw a difficult match-up against the NFL’s #1 pass defense that has allowed just 176 yards per game through the air. Due to Love’s turnover issues, this is a tricky match-up where LaFluer may be very conservative with deep balls down the field. As a result, the Packers will need big efforts from the offensive line and ground game to potentially open up holes in the passing game. If that fails to happen, the Eagles pass-rush and secondary will be very difficult to beat in obvious passing situations.

Similar to Green Bay, Philadelphia will also attempt to control the ground game with RB Saquon Barkley, who is having one of the best seasons in NFL history. The Eagles have converted into a more run-heavy offense this season, and it has worked from an efficiency standpoint. With that being said, I think the Eagles have bigger opportunities in the passing game in this match-up. WR AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith both have match-ups that can be exploited, and I believe that will also open the door for TE Dallas Goedert and Barkley to find opportunities in the flats on the underneath routes. Simply put, the Eagles have ways to move the football all over the field in this match-up and the Packers’ defense will need a tremendous effort and potentially some turnovers to help their offense.

Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Prediction

I feel like the Eagles’ are being slightly disrespected with this betting line based on the season they have produced and with the injuries that Green Bay is dealing with on the defensive side of the football with the loss of CB Jaire Alexander and others. Needless to say, I’m backing the Eagles here with confidence!
