NFL Week 9: Best Prop Bets – Jones and Swift?
Week 9 of the NFL season is finally here, and if you’re anything like me, you’re always taking a look at the prop market across the league to find some winners to add to your parlay or take straight up. Lucky for you, I have done all of the leg work and identified some can’t miss prop bets for this week. Whether it’s a rushing, passing, or receiving line, a player to score a touchdown, or one of the more obscure props that Bovada offers, I have looked high and low and picked some guaranteed winners that will make you money this Sunday. Take a look below!
Aaron Jones Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-167)
Let’s start off with something light. While there may not be as much juice on this play, this would be a perfect prop to add to a parlay because it is guaranteed to hit. This week, the Vikings play on Sunday Night Football against the 30th-ranked run defense of the Indianapolis Colts. Jones is the clear bellcow rusher for the Vikings, and I expect his workload to be heavy this weekend. The Vikings last played on Thursday night, so Jones and the offense have had plenty of time to rest and recover. Look for Jones to carry the ball 20+ times and find himself with multiple goal-to-go opportunities against an Indy team that has allowed a rushing TD in 4 of their last five games.
D’Andre Swift Over 65.5 Rushing Yards (-120)
The Chicago Bears will face off against the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05 EST this Sunday. Swift has provided a huge boost for this Bears offense and has had 15+ carries in his last four games. The volume is there, and the Cardinals’ run defense concedes an average of 140.9 yards per game to opponents. Swift has smashed this number in four consecutive games and has another favorable matchup here in week 9. He has seen his snap percentage steadily increase week over week and does not face much internal competition. I also like buying this line up to 76+ at a +119 value.
DeVonta Smith Over 57.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
While Smith is the clear number two receiver in this Eagles’ offense, he has outplayed his expectations in all but one game this season. In every game that he has started, outside of his dud in week 7, Smith has gone over 57.5 receiving yards. In week 9, he faces the 31st-ranked pass defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who allow 271.1 yards through the air. The Jags are much more stout against the run, so even though Philadelphia’s passing volume is in the bottom half of the league, Smith can pick up chunk plays and YAC. The focus of the Jaguar defense will be on AJ Brown, which leaves Smith with favorable matchups to exploit out of the slot or on the outside. Even in a week 6 game where he was only targeted 4 times, Smith was able to rack up 64 total yards. This one is free.
Ladd McConkey Under 53.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
After a breakout performance last week that saw the rookie wide receiver gain 111 yards on six catches, I am fading Ladd McConkey this week. The Chargers will face a tough matchup with the Cleveland Browns’ defensive unit, which now has the benefit of an offense that can stay on the field. Los Angeles prefers to run much more than they pass, so don’t expect a lot of passing volume here. On top of that, McConkey is dealing with a hip issue that saw him limited in practice on Wednesday. A small regression this week will see Ladd fall back below 53.5 receiving yards, which he has only surpassed in 2 of 7 games this year.
