Point Spread: NYJ -1 / BUF +1
Over/Under Total: 41.5
Thursday night football is back for week two and this week we have an AFC East match-up between the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills. Both teams lost in week one and neither wants to come out of the gate at 0-2. There is a little extra hate to this game now that Rex Ryan is coaching the Bills against his former team. This should be a fun one.
The line has jumped quite a bit. Since it opened with Buffalo as a three point favorite, it is now showing the Jets as a one point road favorite and the Bills are now the underdog. The total points are set at 41.5 combined. Neither team won nor covered the spread in week one so both have something to prove this week.

The Buffalo Bills are supposed to be a pretty good team this season. At least many thought they would be. After losing in week one, LeSean McCoy stepped up and told reporters that the Bills cannot panic. It is just a week one loss and they will remain focused to get better each week and improve as a unit. In the Bills loss, quarterback, Tyrod Taylor looked less than spectacular. He passed for just 111 yards and no touchdowns as they lost an ugly low scoring affair 13-7 to the Ravens. We all knew the heart and soul of this team was going to be the defense, but the offense has to help out a little. At least give the defense a rest and a chance to win. There are some injuries still in question as of today for the Bills. Mainly the health of Sammy Watkins is the real key. For an offense that is already having issues, him not playing would make it an even tougher challenge. Reports indicate that they think Watkins will play, but that still have not been confirmed by the team. The key Thursday is for the Bills to get some sort offensive life going. The defense will show up, since all Rex Ryan teams tend to do, but points are needed…big time.
The Jets just like the Bills in week one lost a game that just a play or two in their favor could have changed the result. New York lost a heartbreaking 23-22 game to the Cincinnati Bengals. Ryan Fitzpatrick was not impressive tossing the pigskin for just 188 yards on 19 of 35 passing. This will not get New York over the hump. The offensive numbers must get better. New comer, Matt Forte, played rather well. He had 155 all purpose yards but was unable to get into the endzone. Forte is a great addition to this team and I think once they get their chemistry down, the offense will improve. For the injuries to the Jets, defensive end, Mo Wilkerson, linebacker, David Harris, and linebacker, Bruce Carter are questionable. Wilkerson and Harris are said to be available and will play. As for Jordan Jenkins and Darryl Roberts, both players are still listed as doubtful and probably will not play. The key to the Jets is to just keep the Bills offense in check. The Jets have a pretty decent defense themselves and I think if they just play their game, they can sneak out with a win.
I predict a very sloppy game. I do not have faith that either team is ready to dominate anyone just yet, but I am going to go with the home team in this one. 62% of action is on the Jets mainly because they looked pretty competitive with the Bengals. I am not buying it. I like Buffalo to win a game by a score of something like 20-13.
