The New York Giants will attempt to get just their third
road win of the season this weekend at Qualcomm Stadium against the San
Diego Chargers. Eli Manning and company hope to get a little closer
to the .500 mark by picking up their 6thwin. The Chargers have the same
record at the Giants at 5-7 and they have only won two games at home this
season, so you can bet Philip Rivers and his teammates will do whatever
they can to secure a W on their own turf. San Diego is coming off of a loss
to the Cincinnati Bengals 10-17 after upsetting the KC Chiefs 41-38 at KC
the week beforeyou never know which team will show up for the Lightning
Bolts. The Giants have won 5 of their last 6 games while the Chargers have
lost 4 of their last 5 contests.
New York Giants fans are keeping their fingers crossed a lot more lately now that the team seems to be getting back some of their pride by winning some games. The Giants started the season 0-6 but have rallied to a 5-7 record and could be knocking on the door to a playoff opportunity. New York was down 14-0 early last week against the Redskins but then they turned things around and walked away with the win 24-17. Eli Manning at one point completed ten passes in a row, and defensively, Justin Tuck sacked RG3 four times within seven Redskin offensive plays. If the Giants continue to play more consistently like they did at times versus the Redskins they might just be peaking at the right time of the season.
Defensively, the Giants manage to pressure the QB as proven by Tucks 4 sacks and were led last week by Jon Beasons 13 solo tackles. New York will definitely need to bring their A game to southern California this weekend when they battle the Chargers. San Diego is a dangerous team and but they have struggled at home. Even though the Chargers lost last week to the Bengals they will be a challenge to beat if they make the right adjustments within their defense. On the QB front, Philip Rivers and Eli Manning are two of the more storied, veteran QBs in the NFL and this game will ride on the play of both of them. If you like to watch a QB matchup you will enjoy taking in this contest. Manning was 22 of 28 last week, nearly an 80 percent completion tally with a 98.7 QB rating, 1 TD and1INT. He has the ability to catch fire just like his brother Peyton, and take over a game. Rivers was 23 of 37 for just 252 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. He had a QB rating of 80 and 62.2 completion percentage. The edge heading into this game goes to Manning even on the road.

Meanwhile, in San Diego Land, the Chargers are in a funk as of late. Dropping 4 of the last 5 games is not the place any team wants to be this time of yearteams should be getting better not worse. For San Diego the key is finding a rhythm and knowing what to do. The Chargers have appeared brilliant in some moments but yet they look lost in too many other series. The Bengals exposed the Bolts defense by rushing all over them last week. The Chargers defense will need to step up this weekend as they were beat on the run and the pass last week and in previous games. A team cannot let a receiver go untouched down the middle of the field and walk into the end zone. Communicate, communicate. This is the key to every team sport at every levelthe Chargers have struggled in this area. I like the Giants odds as they travel across the country to humble the Chargers at Qualcomm. Eli Manning will continue to produce better as he always seem to do late in the season and the Giants D will have just enough to slow down Rivers and Company.
