This Sunday the New Orleans Saints, who are coming off of a horrible loss, will head into the nations capital and battle the Washington Redskins. New Orleans is 4-5 and sits in third place in the NFC South just two games behind the Falcons for second place. The Redskins are 3-5 overall and are also in third place in their division, but have a better chance to make a run for the title seeing as how the entire NFC East has underachieved so far in 2015. The last time these two teams met was 2012, and the Redskins beat the Saints by a score of 40-32. These two teams are very different than they were three years ago and this is a complete toss up in my opinion.

I will just call this game a straight up pick em although the line has the Saints favored by one point on the road. This game may shift even more by the time they kick off. 74% of the action is on the Saints and if this trend continues, the spread could go as high as 2.5 or 3 points by Sunday around noon. The total points are set at 50.5 and 55% of the action actually thinks the game goes under that amount. This should be a close game and like I say often in the NFL, this one could go either way.

The Saints appear to be on their way down. They had one hell of a run over the last decade but Drew Brees isnt getting any younger and the team around him just is not as talented as they had been for years. For a few weeks though, it seemed like they were back on track to make another good run for a playoff berth but the heartbreaking loss to the Titans this past Sunday may be the game that ruins their chances. One thing that has hindered the Saints this year and even in years past is their awful play on the road. In the dome, these guys are lights out typically, but on the road it is a whole different team. So far in 2015, the Saints are 1-3 on the road and if they plan to make that 2-3, they better step up and play on both sides of the ball this weekend. The main reason for the failures of the Saints this season has been 100% due to their bad defense. They are allowing 30 points per game which is the second worst in the entire NFL. The offense is doing their job, like always. Ranking second in the league in passing and averaging another 95 yards a game on the ground has made the Saints the 6th best scoring team in the league. This weeks key..DEFENSE. Enough said.

Somehow, someway, the Washington Redskins are still alive in the NFC East race. At 3-5, the Skins are only a game and a half behind division leader, New York, who themselves have not been overly impressive either. In 2015, the Redskins are ranked either in the middle of the bottom of all major statistical categories. They have the 28th worst scoring offense and are allowing over 24 a game to opponents. There have been times this season where they have looked pretty good and they are just a couple of bad plays away from being in first place themselves. Against the Atlanta Falcons, they let the birds score a late touchdown to force overtime. In that overtime, Washington was driving for what could have been the winning touchdown and the game ended on a pick six by the Falcons. Then in week one, they lost a 17-10 game to the Dolphins that really could have ended differently with a couple of favorable bounces and calls. However, here we are, the Redskins cannot lose this game. They have a few more tough games down the stretch and if they have any desire to make a post season run, as unlikely as it may seem, they must win this home game. The key is defense. Just like I said for the Saints, the Redskins need to slow down the Saints offense. If they do this, I think they can put up some points on that awful New Orleans defense and win this game.

Total toss up. But I do not like the Saints on the road and I do not like the fact that the public is so high on them. I predict Washington wins an ugly game 23-17 on a late fourth quarter touchdown.
