Last week, the Buffalo Bills were handed one of the bigger upsets of the season in a 20-17 loss to the New York Jets. Before that game, the Bills were 11-point favorites and in control of the AFC East. However, one week later, the Bills are on the heels of their 2nd loss of the season and in jeopardy of losing control of the division. On Sunday, Buffalo will attempt to get back on track when they return home at Highmark Stadium to meet an emerging contender in the NFC, by way of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings pulled out yet another close win last week in a 20-17 victory over the Commanders. QB Kirk Cousins threw for 265 yards with two touchdowns and one pick, and WR Justin Jefferson posted another monster performance with seven catches for 115 yards with a score. As a result, the Vikings moved to 7-1 SU on the season and are in complete control of the NFC North. Despite having the 2nd best record in the NFC, the Vikings are not exactly getting the credit they deserve which is likely a result of “style” points. Most of Minnesota’s wins have not been pretty, which has led many to be skeptical of the Vikings’ success. As a result, Minnesota will be 6.5 point underdogs when they travel to Buffalo for Sunday’s week ten showdown.
QB Josh Allen Injury Concerns
In last week’s loss to the Jets, Buffalo QB Josh Allen suffered what is being described as an elbow injury and is reportedly being evaluated for the overall impacts. As many are aware, Allen has been having an MVP-style season and is the most important piece to the Bills’ high-scoring passing attack. However, initial reports out of Buffalo fear that Allen may have suffered UCL injury to his throwing elbow. While nothing officially has been released at this time, Allen’s status remains up in the air and is something that should definitely be monitored going into the weekend. If, for any reason, Allen is forced to sit, Minnesota would immediately become a more appetizing betting option.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Buffalo Bills Betting Analysis
As things currently stand, we are assuming Allen will be under center on Sunday, and backup QB Case Keenum will not be needed. With that being the assumption, the Bills have favorable match-ups on offense against a Vikings defense that is giving up 254 yards per game through the air. CB Patrick Peterson will likely draw a match-up against Bills WR Stefon Diggs, who currently ranks 3rd in the NFL with 857 receiving yards. Diggs appears to be playing at the top of his game which is worrisome for the aging Peterson. Additionally, Minnesota has struggled over the middle of the field, which could sound alarms for a team like Buffalo that likes to target their tailbacks and tight ends heavily in the passing game.
Personally, I think Buffalo’s offense is just very efficient despite the dismal performance last week against the Jets. Meanwhile, Minnesota’s offense will draw one of their more difficult match-ups of the entire season. RB Dalvin Cook has been ineffective in Head Coach Kevin O’Connell’s new pass-happy offense. As a result, this sets up an intriguing match-up for QB Kirk Cousins against one of the best pass defenses in the league. The addition of TE T.J. Hockenson should help soften the underneath coverage over the middle of the field, but this offense still goes with Cousins and WR Justin Jefferson. The match-up will be more difficult this week, but the Vikings have the skill position players to threaten Buffalo in many ways.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Buffalo Bills Betting Prediction
I believe the Vikings are being a bit disrespected with this betting line. Buffalo has suffered a lot of injuries on defense lately, and Minnesota’s offense has gotten even better with the addition of Hockenson. If Minnesota can find a few big plays, I really like the points in this one!
