This Sunday in Atlanta, there is an AFC/NFC game between the 3-1 Atlanta Falcons and the 2-2 Miami Dolphins. Atlanta is coming off of a very much needed bye week while the Dolphins enter this game coming off of a win over the Tennessee Titans. This game is not a must win for either team, but I think the pressure is more on the Falcons to right the ship and recover from their loss two weeks ago to Buffalo.
The Falcons are heavy favorites in this game. They are 11 point favorites over the Dolphins while the over under has been set at 46.5 total points combined. Both teams this year are 2-2 against the spread and as of late Tuesday night, 66% of the documented action liked the Falcons to get the cover at home. As for the total points, the action was very even with 53% liking the game to stay under the 46.5.
Laying points in the NFL is always a risky proposition. The Falcons line up as a GREAT play to throw into a teaser bet. Find the biggest assortment of teasers, players and parlays (including progressive parlays) at the web’s best sportsbook: 5Dimes!
The Falcons are coming off of an NFC championship and a near Super Bowl win and they started the first quarter of the 2017 season pretty strong too. Atlanta is 3-1 and tied for first place in the NFC South with plenty of games to go. Before the season began, many Falcons fans and NFL experts thought that the early bye week for Atlanta could haunt them down the stretch. That could not be further from the case. Atlanta has a number of injuries to key players and the week of rest may have helped them get healthy just in time.
The following players missed time due to injury and again, these are key dudes for the Birds… Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, Rico Allen, Vic Beasley, Courtney Upshaw, and Ryan Schraeder. Word is that Jones, Beasley, and Schraeder will all play against the Dolphins with the remaining players all being available for the next week’s prime time game with the New England Patriots. This is a Falcons team that thrives on chemistry and getting its core healthy will make a big impact down the road.
The Dolphins have somehow managed to come into this game with a 2-2 record regardless of having the NFL’s worst offense and an average at best defense. Luckily, Miami faced a Chargers team that flat out stinks and then just last week they caught a Titans team that was without quarterback, Marcus Mariota. Not only have the Dolphins had a tough run from an on the the field standpoint, but things off the field took a bit of a turn this week as well. This week word came out about Offensive Line coach, well now former line coach, Chris Foerster, and his issues with cocaine and other….things. Adam Gase now has his hands full in keeping the team focused coming into a game against a very talented Atlanta team that wants to come off of a bad loss two Sundays ago. This will not be easy for Miami.
In my opinion this game goes a lot deeper than X’s and Os. I can break down the teams all day but we all know that Atlanta is heads and shoulders above what the Dolphins are right now. Not only that, the Falcons are 3-1 on the season and have yet to really play a complete, clean game. The bye week gave the Falcons time to get healthy and get back to the drawing board. I have a feeling that this Sunday Atlanta beats the brakes off of Miami and gets ready to head into New England. next weekend for a rematch of Super Bowl XI. Atlanta wins this game something like 28-10 and it will not even look as close that the score appears.
