The Los Angeles Rams proved last week why they are among the best teams in the NFL with a 38-31 victory over the Vikings. It was not the win itself that proved anything it is how the Rams won. Minnesota came out blazing on offense in full attack mode and held the upper hand throughout the early minutes. However, the Rams NFC leading scoring offense proved to have too many weapons. Quarterback Jared Goff threw for 465 yards with 5 touchdowns, WR Cooper Kupp caught 9 passes for 165 yards with 2 touchdowns, WR Brandon Cooks got the best of Xavier Rhodes with 7 catches for 116 yards with a score, WR Robert Woods also eclipsed the 100 yard mark, and RB Todd Gurley accounted for 150 all-purpose yards with a touchdown.

Looking back, it was just another dominate performance by a Rams offense that is overflowing with talent while leading the NFC averaging 35 points per game. It is the same Rams offense that will get the opportunity to go into Seattle this week and take on one of the most prestigious defenses in the NFL. However, this normally treacherous Seahawks defense has been riddled with injuries and has regressed over the last few seasons. Last week, Seattle suffered another critical blow surrounding the loss of safety Earl Thomas and they are faced with an enormous uphill challenge to hold off the Rams dynamic offense.

Let’s forget the intriguing match-up surrounding the Rams offense and Seahawks defense for a moment. Instead, let’s switch focus to an overwhelming concern surrounding the Seahawks offensive struggles. The offensive line cannot protect. Russell Wilson has not been Russell Wilson. There is not a consistent running threat and to this point in the season there has not been a go to threat in the passing game. Seattle’s offensive line has given up the 3rd most sacks (16) in the NFL this season despite having one of the most elusive quarterbacks in the game. The rushing attack is basically a committee approach. Mike Davis had the best performance of the year last week with 104 yards and a touchdown. However, Pete Carroll refuses to put the ball into the hands of a single back and former starter Chris Carson has been battling a hip injury.

Luckily, the offense did get WR Doug Baldwin back last week after missing two weeks with a knee injury. The bad news is that Baldwin does not look 100% and he was not a big factor in last week’s 20-17 win over Arizona. In total this offense has not scored more than 24 points all season. Now the Seahawks go against the top offense in the NFC that has a defense that is ranked 5th in scoring allowing just 16.8 points per game with a solid pass rush. It is not a good match-up nor a good situation for Seattle.

Rams offense will continue to shine against Seattle

If you have any hesitation about starting any of the Rams’ offense this week in your fantasy league, I would not be too worried. This Seattle defense is not the defense that built their reputation alongside the 12th man at CenturyLink. This Seattle defense is riddled with injuries at linebacker and in the secondary. From a match-up standpoint, the Rams have all the tools to exploit this offense. This will be a prime spot for Robert Woods and Brandon Cooks to alternate at the slot position to exploit the speed deficiency in the middle of the field. Plus, running back Todd Gurley should feast with passes out of the backfield against the Seahawks defense that ranks 21st against running back receptions out of the backfield. The Rams offense will literally pick their poison and move the football with ease. Bank on it!

Rams vs. Seahawks Betting Trends

If you are a fan of betting trends, there are plenty pointing to the Rams to back my sentiments. First, Los Angeles is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games and 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against Seattle. Seattle on the other hand is just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games at home. For total score purposes, the under has cashed in 5 of the last 6 meetings between these NFC West rivals when playing in Seattle.

Jay’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Los Angeles Rams -7
