In Week 9, the New York Giants will take the field in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to welcome one of the NFC Wests up and coming teams to the Meadowlands. The G-Men will host the Los Angeles Rams in a NFC West vs. NFC East intraconference clash. The two teams last met in New Jersey when the Giants took the Rams down by a score of 17-10 in 2016. Overall, the Giants have won the last three contests between both sides. The festivities are set to kick off at 1:00 PM ET and will be televised for regional demographics on FOX.
The central plotline surrounding the Giants is Big Blue having only one win this season. Nevertheless, the Giants could not have earned their sole triumph in a more incredible manner. After sustaining injuries to their starting core of wide receivers, the Giants offense would ignite against the least likely of parties in one of the most notoriously difficult venues in the NFL. The Giants would hit the road and head to the Mile High City where as a 13.5-point underdog Big Blue would take down the Denver Broncos by a score of 23-10. Denver at the time of the contest had just one loss on the season and were regarded by many analysts and pundits as a lock to win against the Giants. The result was monumental but since then the Giants have returned to Earth when Seattle Seahawks came to MetLife Stadium, two weeks ago and pounded the G-Men. The Giants were routed by the Seahawks and many tickets were ripped up as a result of an overreaction to what transpired the week before. The Giants opened as a 7.5-point home pup and closed in the area of a 4-point home dog. The Hawks would roll by them by a score of 24-7. The Giants have since been on a bye and will enter this contest the better rested of the two outfits.
The Rams come in off yet another win where they looked extremely impressive. The latest result will bolster their acclaim that much further. The Rams would shut the down on the Arizona Cardinals when they would blank the Cards 33-0 in the City of Angels, last weekend. As a whole, the Rams enter tied with the Seahawks for the NFC West lead and have won their last two fixtures overall. Los Angeles currently sits in the thick of the playoff picture and features some truly dynamic talent on their roster. Most notably, running back Todd Gurley from the now #1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the first College Football Playoff poll and standout wide-receiver Slammin Sammy Watkins who came to Los Angeles by way of a trade with the Buffalo Bills.
In the early stages, the public has taken a liking to the Rams as they come in on the heels of a dominant performance and this was reflected in a one-point line movement upward from the off of the market. As a whole, the consensus seems to favor spotting the points with the Rams in many forums. The Over/Under has diminished by two points to reflect action on the Under in this market. The overall figure presented suggests that this game will have more of a defensive feel to it rather than an offensive-oriented affair. It is worth annotating that the Rams offense is extraordinarily potent and can score at will when all cylinders are firing.
Targeting reactions is something we value and preach. As a whole, the Rams are prone for an overreaction by virtue of their prolific win last week and the Giants are subjected to the sell switch given the fact they looked dead in the water two weeks ago against Seattle. However, the Giants have had two weeks to prepare for this contest and they will get the luxury of also playing this one at home with the help of some infamously rabid fans supporting them. Given the opening number of this market at +2.5, books are suggesting that the G-Men maybe in line for an upset victory here and thus they are also worth a look potentially on the Money Line.
