The Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets will square off in an AFC conference clash at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday, September 29th, 2018. The kick-off time is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET and will be aired on CBS for regional demographics. The Jets and Jags have crossed paths several times in the past few seasons. The two teams have met on four occasions in the last six seasons with Gang Green winning all four contests. Last year, the Jets defeated the Jags in overtime by a score of 23-20 in the Meadowlands.

How Could You Lose The Browns?

The Jets enter in off a 21-17 loss on Thursday Night Football where the Cleveland Browns finally won a football game against you guessed it, the New York Jets. The Browns went winless in 2017 and had not won a game since Week 16 of the 2016 season where they desperately won their only contest in the last two years in a snow bowl against the then San Diego Chargers. After the Jets had won big on Monday Night Football in Detroit to start off their 2018 campaign, seemingly New York has come crashing back down to Earth.

The Jets Losing Streak

Overall, New York has lost their last two games. We mentioned the latest debacle which made New York the apparent laughing stock of the NFL (even though the Browns tore it up in the NFL Draft and off-season to make themselves a heck of a lot better), but the Jets were also smoked at home at the hands of a divisional rival they know all too well. The Miami Dolphins led by as much as 20 points in the preceding loss in Week Two.

Jaguars Come In With A Chip On Their Shoulder

The Jaguars got off to a 2-0 start and they did so with a bit of aggression. The Jaguars would first make an example out of the New York Giants (whom the Jets share their stadium with) at MetLife Stadium and defeat the G-Men 20-15. In doing so, Jacksonville’s No-Fly Zone defense undermined quarterback Eli Manning and Big Blue’s aerial operations. Jacksonville would follow this up with one of the most impressive wins of the season when they would bully the New England Patriots in an AFC Championship rematch in Jacksonville.

A Titan Upset

The Jags entered into their AFC South divisional meeting last Sunday with a bit more swagger after they defeated the team that stole the AFC title from them in 2017. With this Jacksonville also found itself closing as a double-digit choice against their divisional rivals. The game didn’t see one touchdown scored. For those that love Cracker Jacks and offense, well the Jacksonville/Tennessee game would have put you to sleep as the Titans would pull the outright upset by a score of 9-6.

Take New York +8

The Jets will come into this contest with 10 days’ rest and plenty of time to prepare for this contest. This in itself provides Gang Green with ample time to study game film, strategize, and heal up. Jacksonville has to try to configure how to respond to a lackluster offensive performance against a Jets defense that is quite formidable in its own right. However, given the loss at Cleveland the Jets’ stock has crashed through the floor which is where we step in.

The New York Jets have a history of playing mind games with their fan base. For example, the Jets always come up big in games they are expected to crushed in. They play up to elite competition and then fall flat on their face in games that they are supposed to win. The events surrounding Detroit and Cleveland speak into the typical behavior of New York’s rougher twin sister. This however seems like one of those games where the Jets will show up in both body and form to take it to Jacksonville, once again starting the abusive cycle that Gang Green fans typically undergo in New York. The offenses will be out the window in this one and it will once again boil down to which defense wreaks more havoc. New York’s defense edges Jacksonville in the turnover department by substantial margins (7:1). Given this match-up, the Jets offer equity here with the points. Chances are we will see this line move even further and perhaps once again we find the Jags spotting double-digit points for the second week in a row.
