This Sunday at 1:00pm on CBS, there is an AFC South contest between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium. Believe it or not, not only do the Jaguars come into Indy with the better record, but they are also the favorite on the road. Jacksonville is trying to keep pace with the Houston Texans in the Division and Indianapolis in my opinion is just a mess without Andrew Luck. In this divisional series, the Colts have been victorious in seven of the last nine meetings, but the Jacksonville Jaguars have won two of the last three.
Like I already mentioned, the Jaguars are three point favorites on the road and the total points are set at 43.5 overall. Although over 65% of the betting action is on the Jacksonville Jaguars, the line has not moved much at all…actually in 90% of books, it has stayed exactly where it was when it opened. As for the total points, the betting public likes this game to stay under the total. Well, 56% of the bettors like the under.
For the last three of four years I have been on the Indianapolis Colts bandwagon as far as them being a contender…I’m officially off. Its over. This team is trash. Yes, if they had Andrew Luck leading the way they might be a little more dangerous but in my opinion, even with Luck, this team is just a tad better than average. The Colts come into this game at 2-4 overall and 4th place in the AFC South division. The saddest part of the Colts two wins is that both wins have come against teams that are the NFL’s bottom feeders…the Colts and 49ers. At this point in 2017, Indy does not look like a competitive team they look more like a team destined for a top ten or even sooner draft pick this coming April.
In order for the Colts to get back on track and get this win over the Jaguars, step one is to stop the run. Leonard Fournette has been a straight beast in his rookie year. Not only is that good for the Jaguars and their offense, but it has been really good for my 5-1 Fantasy Football team. Anyhow, the emergence of Fournette has made life much easier for Blake Bortles and now there is not so much pressure on Bortles to beat teams with his arm. This weekend, if the Colts cannot stop Fournette, its over. They will have no chance to beat the Jaguars. If they can stuff the run and force Bortles to win the game, this could be a fun one to watch. On the offensive side of the ball, Indy has to keep drives alive. Shorten this game and keep it low scoring then they have a shot. If it becomes a scoring fest like this past Monday against the Titans, Jacoby Brissett and the Colts offense will not be able to keep up.
I pretty much summed up what the Jaguars need to do to get this win already. Run, Run, Run. If Leonard Fournette can get rolling and open up the offense then the Colts will have a long day. I am not sure what to make of this game and as much as I hate betting on the chalk, I may have to here. I do not like this Colts team any longer. I trust them against no one. I seriously think the Jacksonville Jaguars come in and get an easy road win this Sunday. It will not be in blowout fashion, but I think Jacksonville gets a 24-13 type win over the Colts this weekend and moves to 4-3 and gets the cover.
