Sunday in NRG Stadium, the Houston Texans will host the Indianapolis Colts. This will be an AFC South game that is very important to the Texans as they sit just a game behind Jacksonville and Tennessee for the division lead. As for the Colts, they just need a win to get back on track. In my opinion, Indy may possibly be the worst team in the NFL right now and yes that includes the Browns and 49ers.
Houston opens as a huge home favorite over the Colts. If I remember correctly, this is the largest Vegas line of the week in the NFL with the Texans sitting as a 13 point fave in this game. The total points are set at 49.5 combined. As of Wednesday morning, even with the large spread, 59% of the betting action was on the Texans to cover over the Colts. The total points were pretty close as 52% like the over and 48% like the under.
So what exactly is wrong with the Indianapolis Colts? Other than Andrew Luck still being out, they are just bad…in every area. Currently, the Colts are ranked 32nd in scoring defense, 27th in scoring offense, 27th in passing offense, and they are not even averaging 100 yards a game on the ground. This team has struggled in every way possible. Indy has two wins this season and guess who against….the Niners and Browns…the only two winless teams in the NFL and I firmly believe that if they played again, that the Colts may not even win those again. It seems to me that this team is regressing rather than improving. If they want to cover this spread this weekend and if they have ANY dream of winning this game, something has gotta give. There is not just one area that needs improvement, it is a total team effort. The Colts need to stop the Houston run game which is ranked 3rd in the NFL. Not only can Houston run, they can score. Houston comes in ranked 1st in the league in scoring at nearly 31 points per game….. Goodluck Colts.
Houston is only 3-4 but it seems like they are better than that. They played an insane game and came up just short of the Seattle Seahawks recently. That game was down to the wire and very fun to watch. Not only that, Deshaun Watson almost pulled off an upset of the Patriots. Watson is still going through growing pains throwing picks at times, but he is also making some good plays as well. This kid may be the real deal and I know that Houston loves him so far. Deshaun and the Houston passing game is ranked 16th in the NFL but again, combining that with a top three rush attack and you have something special.
This game is simple for Houston. I believe it is a forgone conclusion that the Texans are going to win, but are they going to cover? In order to cover, Watson and the rest of the offense cannot turn the ball over and give the Colts easy scores. The NFL is a hard league to win in and it is a really hard league to blow someone out. However, I like Houston’s chances this weekend. I think the Texans take care of business and get to .500 with a 27-10 win over the Colts.
