Two teams coming off impressive opening season wins will collide this Sunday when the Atlanta Falcons host the Green Bay Packers inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons picked up a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers last week despite a rather sluggish performance on the offensive side of the football. However every win is extremely important for an Atlanta team that should compete for the division crown in the wide-open NFC South. For the Falcons to keep their division trajectory in-tact, they will get a stiff challenge on Sunday in the form of the visiting Green Bay Packers.
The Packers were also impressive in last week’s 38-20 victory over the Chicago Bears in the first game in the post-Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay. Despite not having Rodgers behind center, the offense looked to be in good hands with QB Jordan Love, who tossed three touchdown passes. RB Aaron Jones was the star of the offense on Sunday accounting for 127 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon. Jones actually made the most of his production in the passing game. Jones busted the game open on two separate occasions with a 51-yard reception and a 35-yard reception for a touchdown to give the Packers offense the spark that it needed. Jones was actually pulled in the 3rd quarter in fear of a hamstring injury, but it appears that move was strictly precautionary. All early reports this week indicate Jones is trending in the right direction for this week’s showdown with the Falcons.
Green Bay Packers vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Analysis
If you watched the Atlanta Falcons last week, they were least impressive on the offensive side of the football. Despite all of the hype around first-round pick RB Bijan Robinson, RB Tyler Allgeier provided the best production in the Falcons’ heavy ground attack, carrying the ball 15 times for 75 yards with two touchdowns. To be fair, Robinson does appear to be very talented, and the Falcons are willing to utilize him in several ways which should be beneficial. However, Atlanta simply has nothing to offer in the passing game with QB Desmond Ridder. Every passing play is a bubble screen or 5-10-yard route with absolutely no threats vertically. WR Drake London, who is expected to be a star, was held without a single catch in last week’s win, and former first-round pick TE Kyle Pitts led the team in receiving with just 44 yards. Needless to say, Atlanta is going to have to find some better ways to move the football if they want to keep winning.
From a match-up perspective, I just don’t see how Atlanta is going to win this football game without showing better ingenuity with the play-calling or capitalizing off another game full of turnovers. The Packers protected the ball well last week, and I am a believer in QB Jordan Love’s potential. The problem for Green Bay is they have already been hit with several nagging hamstring injuries with RB Aaron Jones and WR Christian Watson. Jones appears to be destined to return this week, while there is some optimism that Watson could also return. If that happens, I will be all over the Packers, as they simply have many more paths to victory with their offense. Keep monitoring the injuries, but don’t be surprised if Green Bay rolls either way.

Green Bay Packers vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Prediction
The Packers’ defense was really solid against the run last week, and the match-up against the Falcons will not be significantly different this week. I have been unimpressed by everything Atlanta does on the offensive side of the football and simply think they are going against a much-better team this week in Green Bay.
Jay’s Pick: Take the Packers -1.5
