Last Thursday, the New York Giants fell to 1-3 SU after suffering a 20-15 home loss against the Dallas Cowboys. In that game, the Giants were forced to settle for 5 field goals despite outgaining the potent Dallas offense in total yards, which ultimately made the difference in the game. Star WR Malik Nabers led the offense with 12 catches for 115 yards as his impressive rookie campaign continued. However, Nabers went down late in the 4th quarter with a concussion, which will put his availability in jeopardy this Sunday when the Giants travel to face the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.

The Seahawks suffered their first defeat of the season on Monday Night Football in a 42-29 defeat to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The Lions were able to run the football effectively and jump on the Seahawks early. Despite a valiant effort, the Seahawks’ late rally fell short despite the fact QB Geno Smith threw for 395 yards with a touchdown. At 3-1 SU, the Seahawks remain in the top spot in the NFC West and will look to get back on track this Sunday when they return home in what can only be described as an ideal match-up against the New York Giants!

The status of Giants WR Malik Nabers will be an important component to monitor this week. Typically, concussions have produced a minimal 1-week absence around the NFL this season, but Nabers did suffer his concussion on Thursday last week, providing him an extra few days to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol. Either way, the Giants offense will face a tough challenge against a Seattle secondary that ranks 7th in the NFL, allowing just 167 yards per game through the air. So far this season, QB Daniel Jones has been relatively inconsistent throwing in the direction of anyone other than Nabers, and this is simply a bad match-up for the Giants offense, who will need some of their supporting cast to step up in a big way.

With that said, the Giants’ defense has shown some improvement thus far in 2024. However, Seattle has a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the football that can attack all areas of the field. RB Kenneth Walker returned from a two-game absence due to an oblique injury to score three touchdowns in Monday’s loss to the Lions. Meanwhile, WR D.K. Metcalf has been dominant in recent weeks and has a solid supporting cast, including Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With QB Geno Smith playing at a high level, I expect the Seahawks to keep the pressure on the Giants defense with a combination of speed and efficiency.

The Seahawks will have a short week and will have a tough time getting amplified for a Giants team coming across the country with a measly 1-3 SU record. With that said, I still believe Seattle is the overall best team. If Nabers misses, this play gets even stronger.
