The Eagles jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the second quarter, only to allow the Dolphins to tie it at 17-17 in the third. But Philadelphia then scored the final 14 points to win and cover at -3.
The Eagles out-gained Miami 355-244 and dominated time of possession by a 37:23 split.
Philadelphia opened this season 5-0, then blew a double-digit halftime lead and lost to the Jets 20-14. So last week’s win over the Dolphins fit in nicely with our “bounce back/letdown” line of thinking when handicapping NFL games.

Meanwhile, Washington is just 1-4 its last five times out after falling at the Giants last Sunday 14-7. The Commanders, favored by three points for some reason, trailed 14-0 at the half, pulled within one score early in the third quarter, but got nothing else from there, as their last-gasp effort ended at the New York 7-yard line.
Washington got out-gained by the Giants 356-273, converted just 1/15 on 3rd downs, and gave up six sacks.
Washington started 2-0 this season, then lost three games in a row, including a 40-20 decision against Chicago. The Commanders then won at Atlanta before losing to New York. So last week’s Washington game also fit into our “bounce back/letdown” theory.
