The Detroit Lions will return from a week 5 bye with a road trip to battle America’s Team inside AT&T Stadium this Sunday. Before the bye, the Lions had previously won back-to-back games against the Cardinals and Seahawks. The 3-1 SU start has many, considering the Lions are once again among the better teams in the NFC. With that being said, the Lions still trail the undefeated Vikings in the NFC South Division, which makes this Sunday’s showdown against the Cowboys an important one for the early divisional race.
The Cowboys avoided falling below the .500 mark last weekend with a clutch comeback victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in front of a Sunday Night Football audience. In that game, the Cowboys trailed the Steelers late in the 4th quarter. However, QB Dak Prescott led a 70-yard game-winning drive to hit WR Jalen Tolbert for the winning touchdown, which stemmed from a 4th-and-goal situation with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock. The clutch victory was big for keeping the Cowboys’ early season in-check but sets up yet another important showdown against the Lions this Sunday.

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Analysis
While Dak Prescott has shown some late-game magic in recent weeks and the Cowboys offense still has a load of talent, I believe this week’s match-up will be difficult against the Detroit Lions. On paper, the Lions’ defense does not necessarily hold any big match-up advantages. In fact, Prescott should have the opportunity to attack the weakness of the Detroit defense, which has been the pass defense that has allowed over 260 yards per game through the air. As a result, WR CeeDee Lamb and the rest of the Cowboys receiving corps will likely have opportunities down the field.
Despite that scenario, the Dallas offense has not been very efficient towards producing touchdowns this season. Meanwhile, the Lions have been continuously putting the ball in the end-zone led by the running duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. The duo has produced over 700 all-purpose yards in just four games this season and have combined for eight touchdowns. It’s the running attack that has the ability to control the pace of this game because the Cowboys have been downright awful against the run. If that happens this week, expect Head Coach Dan Campbell to focus on running the football and limiting the opportunities for the Dallas offense.

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Prediction
Admittedly, I am a Dallas Cowboys fan (don’t judge me) however I believe this is a very tough match-up for the Cowboys on both sides of the football. I expect the Lions will control the ground game and Cowboys will be forced into another script of playing from behind. For that reason, I like laying the points this week with the Lions!
