This Sunday, the Denver Broncos will travel to Oakland
to finish off the regular season, and start their push toward a Super Bowl
appearance. Denver has had the season that most figured they would, and
the Oakland Raiders….well, we expected this too. Oakland
is a mess and they come into this game as a 12.5 point underdog at home.
The total points are set at 53.5, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Denver
scored every one of those 53 points on this team. A win by Denver and they
will have home field advantage throughout the entire AFC playoffs, but a
loss, and they could lose that perk to the New England Patriots. All logic
tells us that Denver comes in and gets an easy win, but when it comes to
the NFL, all logic goes out the window.
Denver has had one heck of a season. They are 12-3 and are on the verge of winning home field advantage for the entire AFC playoff season. I am not so sure Denver is the team to beat in the AFC, but they are certainly a true contender and could quite certainly win it all. Peyton Manning has played well all season with the exception of a couple of bad games (San Diego and New England) and has thrown for over 5,000 yards and broke the all-time record for touchdowns in a season with 51. Denver leads the NFL in passing yards with over 340 a game, and their run game isn’t no slouch either being ranked in the leagues top half gaining over 115 a game. These guys can score at will on most teams, and I don’t think they will have much issue doing that against Oakland either. I see a Denver team coming in, taking care of business early, and getting ready for a playoff run.

Oakland has been irrelevant for some time now, and I don’t see them getting any better. Fact is, they have become more and more of a mystery, and more of a mess each year. This season has been another trainwreck, especially at the quarterback position for the Raiders. They are ranked 24th passing in all of the NFL, and they cannot decide on who to lead their offense under center. Last I heard, Tyrell Pryor would be the starter for week 17, if that isn’t the case and I am wrong info, I am sorry, but lets be real….does it matter? Now, one thing Oakland does do well is run the ball. They are actually a top ten rushing team gaining almost 130 yards a game on the ground. I am going to be honest, I don’t know what Oakland can do to win this game. They have a terrible pass defense, and they are going against one of the greatest passing teams in NFL history (statistically). Oakland needs to play out of their minds, and hope Denver takes the gas off the pedal.
Bob’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: I hate these games with these big spreads. Yes, Denver should dominate, but they really aren’t playing for anything. Yes, home field is on the line, but remember, Denver just needs to win to get home field, not cover a spread for us. There really isn’t much to go off of here, but I will say this. Under Manning and this new look offense, Denver has covered every spread against Oakland…ok, they did push the 16 point spread, but I also like to consider the push in favor of the team who was supposed to win rather than the underdog. Denver will win this game in a big way. I predict a 38-13 type game. TAKE THE UNDER 53.5 POINTS AND THE DENVER BRONCOS -12.5!!!
