Chicago is riding the NFL rollercoaster lately. A month ago, the Bears snapped their 14-game losing streak with a 40-20 romp over Washington; then, they suffered a minor letdown and lost to Minnesota 19-13. Chicago, with rookie QB Tyson Bagent in place of the injured starter Justin Fields, beat Las Vegas 30-12, but last week, they suffered a letdown and lost at the Chargers 30-13.

That’s the way it goes for the bulk of teams in the NFL.

The Bears, getting 10 points from the Chargers, gave up the first 17 points and never got back within the spread.

Chicago was outgained by Los Angeles 352-295, which makes the game appear closer than it really was.

Rookie QB Tyson Bagent performed well against the Raiders, then threw a couple of interceptions against the Chargers. Overall, though, he hasn’t looked too bad. With Fields out, Bagent will make his second career start.

Meanwhile, New Orleans just snapped a two-game losing streak with a 38-27 win at Indianapolis last Sunday. The Saints were down 17-7 in the second quarter but battled back to lead 21-20 at halftime. New Orleans then scored the first two touchdowns of the second half and held on from there.

The Saints outgained Indianapolis 511-371.

New Orleans started 2-0 this season, then lost four of its next five games before winning last week. At 4-4 overall, the Saints are tied with Atlanta for first place in the NFC South.
