On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints will travel to East Rutherford, NJ for a clash with the New York Giants in an uninspiring week 14 showdown. The Saints dropped to 4-8 SU on the season with last week’s loss to the Rams and have now lost 8 of their last 10 games. Despite that fact, the Saints are mathematically still alive in the fight for the NFC South, which has been the worst division in football for the 2nd straight season. Ironically, New Orleans should have a legitimate opportunity to stay alive in the division race when they draw an ideal match-up against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

The New York Giants have lost seven straight games going back to last week’s 27-20 defeat to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. The Giants’ issues have been consistent surrounding play at the quarterback position and the inability to control the line of scrimmage on either side of the football. Despite several close losses in recent weeks, many are wondering if Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll still has firm control of the locker room and if the Giants are truly giving their best effort. On Sunday, the Giants will be small underdogs when they host the Saints in what can only be described as New York’s best opportunity to capture a victory based on the remaining schedule.

New Orleans Saints vs. New York Giants Betting Analysis

Due to the quarterback carousel in New York over the last several weeks, Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll has put an emphasis on running the football with emerging rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. However, Tracy has been least effective in recent weeks as the Giants moved from Daniel Jones to Tommy DeVito and, most recently, Drew Lock. Tracy has just 74 yards combined over the last two games, and it is simply because opposing defenses are not threatened by the New York passing attack and the lackluster play behind center. Even with a renewed focus to get star rookie WR Malik Nabers involved last week against Dallas, the offense still managed to produce just 252 yards of total offense, which is simply not going to win football games in the NFL.

For this week’s match-up against New Orleans, the Giants may have the possibility to attack the Saints’ defense on the ground to find a path to victory. The Saints are allowing 136 yards per game on the ground as one of the bottom-tier defenses in the league. However, the Saints arguably draw more advantages on the offensive side of the football as RB Alvin Kamara will get a dream match-up against a Giants defense that allowed Dallas RB Rico Dowdle to cross the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career. With that being said, I do believe the Saints have a lot of concerns in this match-up as well. The Saints’ passing attack has been downright awful, and the team lost TE Taysom Hill last week to a season-ending knee injury. As many are aware, Hill was used in various packages all over the field and was a key contributor in the red zone. Therefore it will be interesting to see if the loss of Hill impacts the Saints red zone efficiency and leaves the door open for an upset.

New Orleans Saints vs. New York Giants Betting Prediction

I am not highly confident in either team’s ability to execute and play consistent football. The Giants actually appear to have paths to victory, even with Lock behind center for the 2nd straight week. However, I still question the Giants’ team effort level and not sure it can be trusted from a betting standpoint. As a result, I am going to side with the under as I expect the ugly offensive play to continue for both teams.
