The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs shoot for a 2-0 start to this season when they do battle with the Bengals, yet again, Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead.

These teams have already met five times over recent seasons, with four of those games decided by exactly a field goal. But Cincinnati better improve upon its Week 1 performance if it wants to keep this game close.

The Week 2 NFL betting market opened Kansas City at -6 over Cincinnati, with an O/U of right around 47. Early betting action slid the Chiefs down to -5.5 and bumped that total to 47.5.

Bengals Betting Preview

Cincinnati is 0-1 on the season after falling at home to New England 16-10. The Bengals, favored at -7.5, gave up the first 13 points of the game, didn’t hit the scoreboard until late in the third quarter and lost at home to a team that won four games last season.

Cincinnati did get robbed of a touchdown in the second quarter that would have tied the game at 7-7 but they were on their way toward getting out-played anyway.

The Bengals got out-rushed by the Patriots 170-70 and lost the turnover battle 2-0.

Cincinnati was 9-8 last season but missed the playoffs. The Bengals played 5-5 in the 10 games Joe Burrow started at QB and 4-3 in the games he missed. Then over the off-season they lost RB Mixon and WR Boyd to free-agency.

Cincinnati is playing against a wins O/U this season of 10.5 but they might well start 0-2, which will make reaching that over a tough task.

Chiefs Betting Preview

Meanwhile Kansas City is 1-0 on the season after beating Baltimore last Thursday 27-20. The Chiefs spotted the Ravens the first seven points of the game but scored the next 13 to take the lead for good. Later, on the last play of the game, Kansas City survived a near-Baltimore touchdown in the back of the end zone to escape with the victory and the cover at -2.5.

The Chiefs got out-gained by the Ravens 452-353, out-rushed 185-72 and lost time of possession 34:26. They just won the game.

Kansas City played 11-6 last season on its way toward winning a second straight Super Bowl title. This season, with basically the same team, the Chiefs are playing against a wins O/U of 11.5.

Bengals-Chiefs Recent History

These teams have met five times over the last three seasons, twice in the playoffs, Cincinnati going 3-2 both SU and ATS. Most recently, though, just back in Week 16 of last season, the Chiefs beat the Bengals 25-17 and covered at -7.

Back-up Jake Browning quarterbacked Cincinnati that day in place of the injured Burrow.

That game was played under a total of 45.

In QB match-ups since becoming pros Burrow is 3-1 against Mahomes.
