The Falcons ain’t winning pretty, but they are above .500, heading into this inter-conference tussle with the Titans Sunday afternoon in Nashville.
Atlanta won nearly in spite of itself last week, as its young quarterback struggled with ball security. But that Falcons defense bailed them out.
Tennessee is also stumbling along on offense and might play this game without its starting QB.
NFL Betting Lines
The Week 8 NFL betting market opened Atlanta as a 2.5-point road favorite over Tennessee, with an over/under of right around 37. Early betting action then dipped that total to 36.
Falcons-Titans NFL Betting Preview
Atlanta pulled back above .500 on the season with a 16-13 win at Tampa Bay last Sunday. Atlanta, as a three-point underdog, scored the first three points of the game and never trailed. Tied at 13-13 with 40 seconds to go, the Falcons drove 42 yards to a game-winning field goal at the buzzer.
Atlanta out-gained the Buccaneers 401-329 and out-rushed the Bucs 153-76. In fact, the Falcons probably should have won that game by at least 10 points, considering they turned the ball over three times inside the Tampa red zone, including twice from the 1-yard line!
Atlanta’s playing some of that up-and-down football as of late. A few weeks ago, the Falcons looked bad, at least offensively, in losing back-to-back games to Detroit and Jacksonville; then they beat Houston 21-19; then they lost to Washington 24-16; then they beat Tampa Bay.
If they could just get more consistent play from the QB spot, Atlanta could be good.

Meanwhile, Tennessee is trying to stop a two-game losing skid after falling to Baltimore two weeks ago in London 24-16. The Titans then had last week off.
Tennessee fell down to the Ravens 18-3 at the half, pulled to within 18-13 in the third quarter but could get no closer and came up short ATS at +5.5.
The Titans got out-gained by Baltimore 360-233, and 111 of their yards came on two plays. That means Tennessee gained 122 yards on its other 44 offensive plays. The Titans also lost time of possession by a 36:24 split and took six sacks, several in a key sequence late in the game when the spread and the total were still up for grabs.
Two games ago, the Titans also managed just one offensive touchdown in a 23-16 loss to Indianapolis.
On the injury front, Atlanta RB Bijan Robinson missed last week’s game due to illness but is listed as probable for Sunday, while Tennessee QB Ryan Tannehill, after leaving the game against Baltimore with a bad ankle, is questionable.
These two teams last met four seasons ago, a 24-10 Titans win in Atlanta. Marcus Mariota quarterbacked Tennessee that day against Matt Ryan for the Falcons.

If Tannehill can’t go Sunday, it will be either rookie Will Levis or 2nd-year man Malik Willis at QB for Tennessee. Regardless, Atlanta owns the better running game and the better defense, and that’s usually enough for us right there. Also, the Falcons have found ways to win a few games this season, like rallying against Green Bay, while the Titans have found ways to lose games. We like Atlanta in this spot.
