The Seattle Seahawks earned a key win on the road at Soldier Field by knocking off the Chicago Bears in overtime 23-17. It was the first overtime game of the season for both teams as the Hawks won the coin toss, marched down the field and ended the game with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson to Sidney Rice. Just when it looked like the Bears were going to rally late, force OT and win in dramatic fashion at home they crumbled mainly from fatigue-their defense was exhausted. The Seahawk’s offense knew they had the advantage in OT.

Russell Wilson continues to impress fans and anyone who doubts he belongs in the NFL with his big-time play. Wilson has a QB rating of 95.2 not the best but not too shabby for a rookie. He was 23 of 37 passing for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns. Perhaps more impressing is Wilson’s 71 yards rushing with a long of 13-he helped the Hawks a ton with his flight of feet. Wilson rushed for two crucial first downs late in the game to keep Seattle alive.

Wilson had plenty of support from his teammates as Marshawn Lynch carried the pigskin 19 times for 87 yards and a TD. Adding to Seattle’s success was the plethora of receivers involved in the air attack-Wilson passed to 8 different receivers throughout the game with Rice leading the way with 6 catches for 99 yards. Golden Tate followed with 5 grabs for 96 yards and each receiver scored a TD; Rice the game winner.

The Seattle defense has been on and off lately and it was definitely off late in the 4th quarter in Chicago as it gave up a 56-yard desperate plea of a pass which allowed the Bears to send the game into OT. Certainly the Hawks will review film and make adjustments to their prevent D but it was a major breakdown that almost cost them the game.

On the other side, Arizona has struggled tremendously. The Cards won their first four games but that’s it-they’ve dropped eight straight games and have not scored more than 20 points since their week four win versus the Miami Dolphins (24-21). The only edge Arizona has on the Seahawks is the fact they get to see more palm trees and sunshine in Phoenix otherwise the Cards would likely be even more depressed with their season. Arizona scored just 6 points in last week’s loss to the Jets. Their main concerns fall with poor QB and O-line performance. If QB Kevin Kolb returns to the lineup it may help but probably not enough on the road where Seattle is undefeated at home.

Although the Cards beat Seattle in week one 20-16, where Russell Wilson was picked, fumbled and sacked three times it is a different scenario now. Wilson has a 122 QB rating at home and is currently playing his best football of the season. In addition, Wilson has 11 TDs and zero INTs at homedid I just jinx him? I don’t see the Cards coming into CenturyLink Field and posing a threat to the Hawks.

Wilson’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: I like the Seahawks to take care of business at home and build on their playoff hopes. This is one of those games that could allow the Hawks to light up the scoreboard. I like the over. Luck to ya.
