Hawks vs. Lakers NBA Pick: RBD’s Best Bet & Prediction (1/3/25)
A 69 percent Fade Play
Recap: 1-0
Record: 4-2
Review:
It was the day after New Year’s Day.
I had Indiana/Miami Over 224.
They scored 243.
NEXT!
And next would be . . .
Today, January 3rd, 7:40 PST.
Atlanta at LAL.
The game opened at 232 and is down to 231′.
And this is good news for me because I’m taking the Over.
Just like yesterday.
Why?
My H/C (Hot/Cold Trend Reversal System says take the Under.
And after yesterday’s loss with Indiana/Miami the record on these is now 8-19, a 70% Fade.
Digging deeper into my charts for a subsystem to see how each of these teams have performed in this spot (if they qualified this year) I see that Atlanta has qualified six times.
Five of the six games went Over.
LAL has been in this spot once, and the game went Over.
So I have a 19-8, 70% Fade AND two teams that have qualified for this spot a combined seven times, and six of them have gone Over.
Like I always say, I’m sticking with what works until it doesn’t.
Let’s look at some other stats for tonight’s game.
These two teams have yet to meet this year, but last year’s two meetings saw scores of 260 and 241, both more than I’ll need tonight.
Atlanta is a stone cold Over machine at 22-11-1 this season.
LAL comes in at 14-18.
Recent trends show that three of Atlanta’s last five have come in Over tonight’s total.
Two of the Laker’s last five have come in Over tonight’s total.
Key Personnel Issues
Atlanta’s Trae Young is listed as day-to-day, but he put in 30 minutes in Atlanta’s last game and scored 30 points. He’s expected to play.
For the Lakers, Coach JJ Redick gave Anthony Davis the night off against Portland yesterday, and he’s listed day to day. I’m going to need him to get my Over tonight; his replacement, Jaxson Hayes, only scored four points last night.
When to Buy Recommendation
The line opened at 232, but 231′ is the common number now.
With Davis’s status up in the air, I’m going to wait to buy this one. If he’s out the line, he will definitely drop.
If he’s in, it might sneak up a point or two, but I won’t mind getting a higher number; it’s worth it to have him in the lineup and his 26 PPG average.
I’ll monitor the line throughout the day and post the number I buy in the PredictEm forum.
