2007 Sharpie 500 Picks

Coverage for the Sharpie 500 begins at 7:00 EST Saturday on ESPN.
Yomonte’s Pick: Matt Kenseth over Kurt Bush.
I try not to go back too many years with my stats. Who cares what somebody did four years ago. Matt has been so consistent here and even though Kurt has done well lately, is on the bubble for a spot in the Chase. I have Roush Racing doing well in this night race on Saturday.
Kurt, who used to be in the 99 car for Roush, is now teamed with Ryan Newman (#12) in the #2 car of Penske Racing. Although Kurt is doing well with his new team, he has not faired well at Bristol.
Kurt won the Spring race in 2006, but has struggled with finishes of 29th this year in March and a 37th last year in August with his new team.
Carl Edwards, is now in Kurt’s old 99 car and has done well at this track.
Matt is a solid #3 in the points and a quiet performer that gets no attention and is happy with that. Kurt, as I said, is on the bubble and might not make it to the Chase.
It was a hard decision to pick either Carl Edwards over Jeff Burton at Olympic, but I had to take Matt, who starts 12th and has finished ahead of his qualifying spot the last three races with a win, a top 5 and 11th against a driver that had a win in the spring of 2006 but since has been lucky to crack the top 30.
Enemies at this track are in essence, time for get back.
Jeff Burton is the only reason I didn’t take Carl Edwards.
That was a tough one. Once again, I’m going with consistency over who did good last week.
Olympic has this at Kenseth -115 odds.
