Las Vegas, Hendricks vs Roush
by Yomonte of Predictem.com
Since this track opened in 1998, only once did a driver other than a Hendricks Chevy or a Roush Ford take the the checkered. Sterling Marlin won this race in 2002 in a Dodge. Also the same year that Gibbs switched from Pontiac to Chevy’s. Gibbs has always been close, but HMS and RR have just dominated this track. Mark Martin won the inaugural race in 1998, then was followed by teammates Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth to take the next 4 of 6 races giving Roush 5 of the first 7 races.
Ji,,ie Johnson who has won the last three events here and Jeff Gordon winning the 2001 race gives Hendricks 4 wins at this track. I feel this trend continues and one of these two teams will win this race.
Not only do these teams have all the wins with the exception of the 2002 race, they have a combined 20 spots 9th or better in the last 4 races.

I also feel either Hendricks or Roush gets it done again this year. I give Roush the edge with Kenseth getting his first win of the season.
Roush won last week and I see this team doing what Hendicks did last year, just win after win. Not saying Hendricks is struggling, they are just having some bad luck. Kenseth who won the last of the Winston Cup Championships, has come close every year since. I find it very hard to believe that Hendricks, even with JR looking good at the Daytona race, taking the Championship this year.
This will be a Roush year and Kenseth should get the # 1 spot at the end of the season.
Yo’s PIcks: With Edwards to win at +645, Kenseth at +745 and Biffle at +1185 (Olympic Sports Book), taking all three will net you a nice little profit.
Other Thoughts Gibbs Racing, who are now on their third manufacturer going from Pontiac to Chevy in 2003, to Toyota this year, should continue to be a top contender but no cigar. Compared to Roush and Hendricks 20 top 9’s last four years, Joe Gibbs Racing has 6 top tens. Not bad for for a team that consists of a two time champion in Tony Stewart. But they just haven’t got it done in Sin City.
Denny Hamlin should be there at the end along with Tony, but I don’t feel they match up against HMS or RR, especially since they switched to Toyota. I’m still not sold on this car.
Good luck on Sunday
