A’s starter Luis Median has given up 8 homers in his last 22 innings. I can’t even remember the last time I saw stats like that. Needless to say, the A’s have lost all five games Media has started. Whenever I consider betting a young pitcher, I always look at his recent minor league stats. In this case, he started 4 games in AAA this season, put up a 7.43 ERA and only went 13.1 innings! This kid strikes a lot of hitters out, but yields a ton of homers as well.
Florida starter Eury Perez has pitched really well this season. He’s allowed two earned runs or less in three of his four starts. He’s only allowed 13 hits in 19 innings which is nice, but has yielded 10 free passes. In this particular case, the walks don’t bother me very much because the A’s lineup is filled with young/undisciplined hitters. The young Marlins are playing with a lot of confidence right now, winning five of their last seven games. I’m laying the wood with the Marlins again at -204.
