The Yanks have been having a rough time at the plate, only managing to put up 3 or less runs in six out of their last seven games. A big part of this slump is Aaron Judge, who’s only knocked one dinger in his past eight games and has a measly three hits in his last 25 at-bats (0.120 BA).
For this game, the Yankees are throwing out their newbie, Jhony Brito. He’s had some solid outings except for one disaster against the Twins, where they sent him packing in the first inning after piling on seven runs in just 2/3 of an inning.
On the other hand, the Twins are putting Jon Gray on the mound tonight. He’s only got a 1-0 record this season, but he’s been bringing it, giving up one or zero runs in each of his four starts for a shiny 1.06 ERA. Plus, he’s got a good history against the Yankees’ lineup, holding them to a weak .114 batting average over 44 at-bats.
It was a close call deciding whether to take the larger money line or aim for value and lay the 1.5 runs. But if Brito slips up, Minnesota should win by a comfortable margin. And if it ends up being a pitcher’s duel, the Yanks’ bullpen might help them prevail. I’m banking on the former – take Minnesota -1.5 +140.
