Straight Up/Over-Under/ Runline Record

Milwaukee Brewers: 7-3 SU / OU 6-4 / Runline 5-5
Cincinnati Reds: 6-5 SU / OU 8-3 / Runline 5-6

The Brewers and Reds played a nine-inning game in the last matchup of this series, with the Brewers coming out on top by a score of 9-5. Despite not hitting a home run, the Brewers had 13 hits compared to 10 for the Reds. Joe Ross got the win for Milwaukee, while Frankie Montas took the loss.

Both Christian Yelich and Jake Bauers had two RBIs for the Brewers, while Yelich and Blake Perkins each went 3/5 at the plate. Perkins also stole a base and scored two runs. As for the Reds, three different hitters had two hits, but they couldn’t keep up with the Brewers’ offense.

Wade Miley is coming off a season in which he made 23 starts and finished with a record of 9-4. His ERA for the season was 3.14, and he had a WHIP of 1.14. Miley’s batting average allowed was .220, and his on-base percentage allowed was .281. He finished the season with 16 home runs allowed and nine quality starts. For the season, Miley averaged 5.91 strikeouts per nine innings and 2.84 walks per nine innings.

Hunter Greene has made two starts so far this season, and both have been at home. In his first start, he went 4 2/3 innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits. He struck out seven but also walked 4. In his last outing, he went six innings, giving up one earned run on three hits, with six strikeouts.

Brewers vs. Reds Offense Outlook

For the Brewers to pick up a win today, they will be looking for their lineup to continue swinging the bats well. In their most recent game, they went deep three times and have hit at least one home run in three straight games. Currently, the Brewers are 5th in the league in home runs and have the 2nd highest team slugging percentage in the league. Overall, they are 4th in the league in runs per game.

Christian Yelich is one of the league’s top power threats, as his ten home runs are 4th in the league, and he is batting .280 this season. Yelich’s 2nd highest home run total on the team is Willy Adames, who is also putting together a good season with 9 homers and a batting average of .264. The Brewers will be looking for Adames to continue to swing the bat well, as he is coming off a game in which he went deep twice.

For the Reds to pick up a win today, they will need their lineup to continue swinging the bats well. Not only are they the 2nd highest-scoring team in the league, but they also have the league’s 2nd best batting average. The Reds have been especially good at home, averaging 6.1 runs per game. Currently, the Reds have three different guys with at least ten homers, led by Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who is hitting .265 with ten homers and has the 10th-highest home run projection in the league.

Wade Miley will be making his season debut for the Brewers today after dealing with an injury to start the year. Miley was good for the Brewers a season ago, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in him starting his season all that well against a tough Reds lineup. I’m going with the Reds on the money line in this one.

Looking at some of the starting pitcher projections, Hunter Greene is actually projected to finish with the highest strikeout total among all starters today, but we have him finishing 15th in terms of earning a win. Greene is projected to finish with seven strikeouts.
