The Miami Marlins are red-hot and nearing white-hot status as they’ve won eight of their last nine games. The Mariners are coming home off an eight-game road trip and have dropped three of their last four. Many astute handicappers think teams have a tendency of coming out flat in their first game back off a long road trip. My take? Wrong team favored! Luzardo has all kinds of funkiness in his stats. For starters, he’s been absolutely filthy in four of his last six starts, allowing one run or less in those four contests and getting beat up in the other two. He’s pitched much better at home, but has a 2.33 ERA in night games overall. Between the Marlins being hot and Seattle not, that’s enough for me to take a flyer on the underdog. Lastly, M’s rookie hurler Bryce Miller started off really well this season, but has been absolutely torched in his last two starts, where he gave up seven and eight earned runs. The Fish are a barking dog.
