San Francisco grabbed the opener of this series Monday night 3-2, cashing in as a +130 dog. The Giants trailed Monday 2-0 into the bottom of the seventh inning but got a two-out, three-run double from pinch-hitter Evan Longoria and hung on from there.

Monday’s game also played under a total of eight runs.

Monday’s loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Los Angeles. At 19-12 overall the Dodgers now lead the NL West by two games over Arizona and San Diego.

Monday’s victory snapped a three-game losing streak for San Francisco. At 12-17 overall the Giants trail first-place LA by six games in the NL West.

This series is the second meeting between these teams this season. LA took two of three games from San Francisco earlier this month down at Chavez Ravine.

Tuesday’s Starting Arms

Lefty Pomeranz is only 1/5 on quality starts this season but he’s also come within three outs twice, before getting pulled. Last Wednesday he held Toronto scoreless on two hits through six innings of a 4-0 San Francisco win, and over his last three starts he’s allowed six runs and 12 hits through 15 2/3 innings.

The Giants are 3-2 with Pomeranz this season.

In his most recent start against Los Angeles, back on April 1 of this season, Pomeranz allowed two runs and six hits through five innings of a 4-2 San Francisco victory.

Buehler is just 1/5 on quality starts this season but he’s been alright his last couple times out. Last Wednesday he gave up three runs and four hits through 5 2/3 innings against the Cubs, although the Dodgers lost that game 7-6. And just prior to that he held Cincinnati to one unearned run and three hits through 6 1/3 innings of a 3-2 Los Angeles victory.

In his only career start against the Giants last April Buehler allowed two runs and six hits through five innings of a 15-6 Dodgers win.
