Wednesday’s MLB betting odds opened LA and Stripling at around -140 over San Diego and Richards, with an over/under of 8.5 runs. Early betting action then dipped LA down about 20 cents, to around -120.

Wednesday’s Starting Arms

Richards is 0/2 on quality starts this season. Last Friday, he gave up four runs and eight hits through 5 2/3 of an 8-7 Padres win over Colorado, but five days before that, he held Arizona scoreless on one hit through five frames, although San Diego lost that game 4-3.

Richards is trying to bounce back this season after being limited to three games last season due to a shoulder injury.

This will be Richards first start against the Dodgers since 2015 when he was with the Angels, and that’s already a long time ago.

Stripling is one/two on quality starts this season. Last Thursday, he allowed three runs and four hits through 5 1/3 innings of a 6-3 Los Angeles victory over the Diamondbacks. And six days before that, he held San Francisco to one run and four hits through seven innings of a 9-1 Dodgers win.

Last year Stripling hit just 2/13 on quality starts, but LA played 8-5 with him.

Over two starts last year against San Diego Stripling gave up seven runs and ten hits, including a couple of homers, through 7 1/3 innings. The Dodgers split those two games.
