MLB Betting Odds
Monday’s MLB betting odds opened Houston and Martin at around -125 over Seattle and LeBlanc, with an over/under of 9.5 runs. Both those figures were holding steady in the early betting action.
The Astros could also be found getting around +120 at MyBookie and giving the run and a half on the MLB run line.
Astros vs. Mariners Set-Up
Houston just swept three games in Oakland over the weekend, winning Sunday’s series finale 6-4 in 12 innings. The Astros led that game 4-2 through six and a half innings, let the A’s tie things up with single runs in the seventh and eighth, then won it with two runs in the twelfth.
Just before that Houston took two of three games at home from the Cubs, and just before that they took two of three at home from Boston. So the Astros are 7-2 over their last nine games.
Seattle, meanwhile, just lost three of four games at home to the Angels, falling Sunday 13-3. The Mariners got outscored in that series 31-10.
How to Bet The World Series Winner Now
Just before that Seattle lost two of three at home to Texas, and just before that they got swept three games at Oakland. Going back a bit further the Mariners, following a great start to this season, are just
3-14 over their last 17 games.
At 40-20 overall Houston leads the AL West by 8.5 games over the second-place Rangers, with 25-37 Seattle in last place, 16 games back.
This series is the second meeting between these teams this season. Back in April the Astros swept three games from the Mariners also in Seattle, twice covering as favorites against the run line.
Monday’s Starting Arms
Lefty LeBlanc is just 1/6 on quality starts this season, 0/3 since returning from a stint on the DL with a strained oblique. Last Wednesday he gave up three runs and six hits through five innings of an 8-7 Mariners loss to Texas. And over his last three starts he’s given up 14 runs and 18 hits through just 12 1/3 innings.
Seattle is 2-4 with LeBlanc this season, 0-4 over his last four starts.
Over five starts last year against Houston LeBlanc allowed 15 runs and 31 hits through 23 1/3 innings. The Mariners lost three of those five games.
Rookie righty Martin is 0/4 on quality starts since joining the Astros rotation three weeks ago. Last Wednesday he gave up three runs and five hits, including three home runs, through 3 2/3 innings against the Cubs, although Houston won that game anyway 9-6. And just before that he gave up four runs – three earned – in just 3 1/3 innings against the White Sox. Houston would probably just love to get five good innings out of Martin Monday, but he’s only done that one time so far.
Nonetheless, the Astros are 3-1 with Martin this year.
This will be Martin’s first-ever start against Seattle, which could give him an edge, at least for the first couple of times through the lineup.

Free MLB Pick
Neither starting pitcher is going very great at the moment, so we’ll call that match-up a push. But Houston owns big advantages in the splits with the sticks and in the bullpen comparison. So we’re going with the Astros here, and we’ll chase a better price by giving the run and a half on the run line.
