The Rockies came through for us Saturday, cashing in as +160 dogs on the MLB betting lines. Can Colorado complete a sweep of Arizona Sunday? And how are we playing this game with our daily free MLB picks?

MLB Betting Line

Sunday’s MLB betting odds opened Arizona at around -105 for this game, with an over/under of 8 runs. The early betting action then bumped that line 15 cents, to around -120.

The D’Backs could also be found getting upwards of +165 giving the run and a half on the MLB run line.

Set-Up

The Rockies have taken the first two games of this series, winning 6-2 Friday night and 5-1 Saturday night. Colorado put up a four-spot in the third inning Saturday, then got a quality start from Antonio Senzatela, on its way toward cashing in at +160 on the betting odds.

At 84-70 overall Colorado trails the first-place Dodgers by just a game and a half in the NL West, and sits a game and a half back of St. Louis in the battle for the second National League wild-card spot.

With Friday’s loss, the D’Backs are just 5-16 over their last 21 games. At 79-76 overall Arizona is now one loss or one St. Louis victory away from being eliminated from playoff contention.

The Rockies lead this season series with the Diamondbacks ten games to eight.

Saturday’s Starting Arms

Godley (14-10, 4.79), by our strict standards, is 13/30 on quality starts this season, but 0 for his last three. Eight days ago he gave up five runs – four earned – in less than four innings against Houston, and over his previous three starts he’s allowed 13 ER through just 12 2/3 innings. On the season Arizona is 16-14 with Godley.

In three starts this year against Colorado Godley allowed 10 ER and 14 hits through 14 2/3 innings. The Diamondbacks lost two of those games.

Lefty Freeland (15-7, 2.95) is 22/31 on quality starts this year, working on a streak of nine in a row. Tuesday he held the Dodgers to two runs through 6 2/3 innings, and over his last nine starts, he’s allowed 15 runs through 57 1/3 innings for a 2.35 ERA over that span. On the season the Rockies are 21-10 with Freeland.

Over four starts against Arizona this year Freeland allowed 15 runs and 19 hits through 22 2/3 innings. Colorado won three of those games.

We’re giving Freeland and the Rockies our handicapping check-mark for this pitching match-up.

Saturday’s Batting Splits

Colorado owns a .247/.316/.405 team batting average/OBP/slugging percentage split against right-handed pitching this season. But this lineup is still without Trevor Story (33 HR, 102 RBI), who’s missed the last four games nursing a sore elbow.
