2010 Breeders Cup Betting Menu Better Than Ever – Offers Chance at Big Score
by Kenneth Strong of Predictem.com
The 2010 Breeders Cup betting menu will be better than ever this year, and its always been good meaning anyone can make a life-changing score. Well, thats not totally true. If a cash of $20,000 to a million plus wont change your life, maybe the Breeders Cup isnt for you. But as far as were concerned, the Breeders Cup is an event youll want to have at least $1,000 put aside for in advance. Win or lose, you will be thoroughly entertained as the best horses on the planet converge at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky on November 5 and 6, 2010 to do battle in 14 extremely tough races.
Six Breeders Cup races will be run on Friday, Nov. 5 and eight will be run on Saturday, Nov. 6. The order of the races has been tentatively set and will be finalized on Oct. 27, but the cornucopia of wagering options remains as good as it gets in the horseracing business.
The Breeders Cup Ultra Pick Six Wager will be offered on both Friday and Saturday, with guaranteed pools of $750,000 on Friday and a $2 million on Saturday. If no one wins the Ultra Pick Six on Friday the pool will carry over to Saturday, after which there is a mandatory payout. The Ultra Pick Six has paid over $1 million in four of the last 11 years.

There will also be three guaranteed Breeders Cup Championship Pick 4 pools, one on Friday and two on Saturday. All three Pick 4 wagers will be on Breeders Cup Championship races and offer a minimum base wagering amount of 50 cents, giving everyone a shot at the lucrative payoffs. Fridays Breeders Cup Championship Pick 4 will offer a guaranteed wagering pool of $750,000. Saturdays early Breeders Cup Championship Pick 4 will offer a guaranteed pool of $1 million and the late Pick 4 will offer a $1.5 million guaranteed pool.
Along with the usual win, place, show and exacta wagering, there will be rolling Pick 3s throughout both Breeders Cup Championship cards along with 10-cent superfectas and 50-cent trifectas, allowing even the most casual of bettors a chance to swing for the fences. There will again be a special Breeders Cup Daily Double on the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic and the Breeders Cup Classic. And for the first time you will also be able to bet on which jockey will win the most Breeders Cup races. Betting on the jockeys opens on Nov. 4 and closes before the first Breeders Cup race, the Breeders Cup Marathon, on Friday, Nov. 5. A morning-line will also be set for the jockey bet.
Finally, if you really want to take a shot at a lottery-type bet with the hopes of taking home $50,000 or more on a single race, you can take a crazy chance on the two Super High Fives being offered this year, the first on Fridays Breeders Cup Ladies Classic on Friday and the second on Saturdays Breeders Cup Classic. If no one takes the Super High Five on Friday, the pool will carry over to Saturdays Breeders Cup Classic, after which there will be a mandatory payout.
Weve already seen a number of the Breeders Cup prep races, but the Breeders Cup poses the toughest handicapping challenge of the year, and well need all of the next three weeks to start digging up long shots based on past history, trainer patterns, tougher medication rules, different track surfaces, poor trips, jockey changes and more. Stay tuned right here at Predictem.com for more handicapping insights in the days leading up to the Breeders Cup Championship.
