2008 Queen’s Plate Entries include numerous longshots for Superfecta
by Kenneth Strong of Predictem.com
June 20, 2008 – Fifteen horses will go to post for the 149th running of the $1 million Queen’s Plate on Sunday, June 22 at Woodbine Racetrack in Canada, and 11 of them will be longshots over 15-1. If you’re looking for a boxcar Queen’s Plate Superfecta, this could be the year.
Plate Trial winner Not Bourbon is the morning-line favorite at 3-1 but he’s certainly no sure thing, especially if you’re superstitious. Not Bourbon drew post 13 for the 1 1/4-mile race for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds. Second choice on the morning-line is Solitaire at 7/2, who was just a neck back of Not Bourbon in the Plate Trial. Perhaps the most intriguing entry in the field is the powerful winner of the Canadian Oaks, Ginger Brew, who has been listed at 4-1.
With the above three vying for favorite status, the remaining 12 horses in the field will be at juicy odds. We’re already looking for a Queen’s Plate Superfecta!
Below are the post positions and entries for the 2008 Queen’s Plate with morning-line odds and jockey.
